Introducing PAC’s very first UG-PG Research Connect Program! Through this, we aim to connect first and second year undergraduate students who are willing to work on short duration research projects in physics, guided by PhD, students from the physics department of IIT Delhi.

We welcome applications from post-graduate students for recruiting winter project interns during December 2022 and January 2023.

Incentives for PhDStudents (Guides):
- Earn ECA points for mentoring students on a research project
- Gain experience of supervising a group of students for research
- Work with UG students as a team to accelerate your project completion

PAC presents the Second lecture in our Student Lecture Series on Astronomy, “Peering into the Infinite with the Infinitesimal”!

Paras Sharma , Summer Researcher at CITA, University of Toronto, will be enlightening us with Galaxies, their structures, and the probes we use to investigate them. In this talk, we will see how radio and optical observations of extragalactic sources like Active Galactic Nuclei, Galaxies, Quasars, pulsars, etc. can help us gain exciting insights into the structure of galaxies, focusing primarily on Quasars.

Roping in the mathematics enthusiasts, we will also briefly see an application of Gaussian Decomposition to phase separation for the Inter-Stellar Medium(ISM), and how it is instrumental for astronomers.

This will be an interesting and enriching venture into the analysis of various parameters of the beautiful organisation of the Cosmos. The journey into the Galaxies takes-off from *BLOCK-2 LT-1*, on Sunday, *6:15PM, 6th of November, ’22*, and we touch-down at 7:15PM.

Register in the link given below before November 4, 11:59pm.

Glimpses from the night sky observation session on 28th August, 2022. This observation session would not have been possible without the guidance of Astrophotographer Sona Shahani Shukla and Professor Suprit Singh . We pay our gratitude to them for coming to the session.

The session was even more exciting on the event of Jupiter being closest to Earth after 59 years, we saw Jupiter and its four moons, Saturn and its rings and photographs captured by during her astrophotography journey.

For astro-updates and future events, do follow .

Greetings from the Physics and Astronomy Club!

PAC is back with our Student Lecture series on Astronomy, Physics and Telescopy starting from Sep 11, Sunday.
We have with us, Tanmay Singh, who was a research intern at The Raman Research Institute '22, and will elucidate us on the preliminary site quality analysis for Indian sub-mm type telescope..

We shall investigate the richness of radio frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum and their wide-ranging applicability in Astronomy. We'll discover how radio telescopes work, delving into information about the universe and the physics that governs it, concluding with a specific problem of telescope site identification in sub-mm Astronomy.

To all the curious minds, budding astronomers and stargazers, sit tight, for this is going to be a really informative and enriching experience.
Be a part of this exciting learning journey at Block - II LT - 2 on 11th Sept 2022 from 4pm to 5pm. See you there!

Glimpses from Physics and Astronomy Club's workshop on Image Processing with raw data from James Webb Space Telescope.

We saw how we can use huge open source datasets from Mikulski archive for Space Telescope, NASA and process astronomical images.‍ ‌We did hands on learning by processing an image of Carina Nebula from its images taken through different wavelength filters by Webb, and talked about Carina's different features‌.

Special thanks to our team members , , and .connoisseur for showing us how to use the datasets for processing images.
We thank all the participants for attending the workshop. Stay tuned for astronomy updates and upcoming events and follow on Instagram.
