The India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) is pleased to share the report titled “Deep-Dive & Carbon Performance Analysis of Buildings in Kerala,” developed by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) India under the Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project.

The report presents findings from an in-depth assessment of 80 selected buildings in Kerala selected from an initial dataset of 400 buildings, using the Building Emission Assessment Tool (BEAT) a web-based lifecycle assessment (LCA) developed under the project.
BEAT is a web-based, open-source platform used to evaluate both operational and embodied carbon emissions across a buildings lifecycle. Learn More on BEAT: https://alcbt.gggi.org/india/

The assessment is focused on Kerala’s transition to climate-aligned buildings to highlight the importance of targeted interventions in high-intensity typologies, improved construction practices, and streamlined data collection systems.

The report offers key insights into carbon performance trends and highlights opportunities for advancing low-carbon building development in India. The findings provide a strong analytical foundation for state-level planning and directly support India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by advancing efficient, low-carbon building pathways.
