Robowars 2k14

Robowars 2k14 " The Ultimate showdown of Technical Wonders for complete Dominance over the Robotics Universe ". On Fight smart, Be patient and Get ready to Rumble!

ROBOWARS (Innovate 2k14)

EVENT DESCRIPTION:-

Robowars is a Mega Robotics Event organized at The national Level Tech fest, Innovate 2k14. Innovate is the ultimate tech-mecca for all those young and sparkling minds who wish to live life
technically. Build robots and watch them indulge into the breathtaking dance of death against others. There will be slashing, thrashing, bashing and lots more, As

the Ruthless Robots get into this game
where strategy, skill, damage, aggression, control and tactics can overpower anything! SPECIFICATIONS:-
Dimensions and Fabrications
· The whole robot should be able to fit into a box of dimensions 750mm x 750mm x 750mm (l x
b x h) at any point of time during the match.
· The robot's overall weight should not exceed the limit of 40 Kg for all kinds of robots either
with battery onboard. Mobility
· All the robots must have the mobility that should be controlled and easily visible.
· Rolling using wheels, tracks etc is allowed.
· Jumping, hopping and flying is not allowed in anyway (using airfoil, helium balloons etc). Robot Control Requirements
· The robot can be controlled using wired or wireless remotes, and the power supply should be
on board only.
· Remote control systems can be self made or one of those ready-made in the market. Battery and Power
· The robot must only work on electrical power.
· Use of engines in any form to operate the robot is not allowed.
· The on board batteries must be sealed and be of immobilized-electrolyte types( such as gel cells,
lithium, NiCad, MiMH or dry cells) etc.
· The total electric voltage difference between any two points in the machine should not be more
than 24V DC at any point of time.
· The participants should take care of the fact that steps are taken to protect battery terminals
from a direct short, fire and failure.
· Use of damaged , non-leak proof batteries may lead to direct disqualification.
· Any change of battery during the match will not be allowed.
· Teams should have extra charged batteries prepared for the match, so that when the robots
advance to the next round they don't have to wait for charging. Pneumatics
· The teams are requested to bring their arrangements for the pneumatic cylinder if needed.
· Robots can use pressurized non-inflammable gases to actuate pneumatic devices where the
maximum allowed outlet nozzle pressure is 10 bar. If the robots use storage tank and pressure
regulators then they need to inform the event co-ordinators.
· The maximum pressure in the cylinder should not exceed the rated pressure at any point of time.
· The team should have a safe way of refilling the system and determining the on board pressure. Hydraulics
· Teams are requested to make their own arrangements for Hydraulic cylinders if needed.
· Robot can use non-inflammable liquid to actuate hydraulic devices e.g. cylinders.
· All hydraulic components on-board must be securely mounted. Special care must be taken while
mounting pump, accumulator and armor to ensure that if ruptured direct fluid streams will not
escape the robot.
· All hydraulic liquids are required to be non-corrosive and your device should be leak proof. Maximum allowed pressure is 10 bars.
· Participant must be able to indicate the used pressure with integrated or temporarily fitted
pressure gauge. Weapon Systems
The robots are allowed to have weapons which may include magnetic weapons, cutters, flippers, saws,
lifting devices, spinning hammers etc except the following limitation and exceptions:-
· Liquid projectiles of any kind are strictly prohibited.
· Any kind of inflammable liquid must not be used in the war.
· Any flame based weapons are not allowed.
· Any kinds of explosive materials or iginited solids should not be used in any way whatsoever.
· Nets, tape, glue or any other kinds of entanglement should not be applied during the war.
· High power magnets and electromagnets are also prohibited. RULES:-
Video and Abstract Submission(Important)
Each and every interested participant team must submit a portfolio of their own particular
machine which consists of a written abstract and at least 1 min long video of the working
model before the competition. After these submissions, teams will be shortlisted and those teams only will be eligible to
participate in Robowars, Innovate 2k14. The last date of portfolio submission is 4th October,
2014. Contact the co-ordinators for further information. Abstract
Every team should also send the following information about their Robots for the purpose of applying
to this event:-
· Complete list of team members and the name of team along with their contact numbers
respectively.
· All the basic details about the robot should be provided before hand which includes all the
components including the circuit board design, motors, suspension springs, remote control
mechanism, wires, battery, power supply method along with proper diagrams.
· All the respective details should be emailed to us at the provided email address in the contact
details section before the deadline.
· In case, the Robot uses hydraulics or pneumatic cylinders then the event coordinators must be
notified before hand. Video Abstract
· The video should be of at least 1 minute with the unedited clip showing the machine
performance to the fullest. All destructive mechanism(s) being used must be shown working. Safety Rules
Compliance with all event rules is mandatory. It is expected that competitors stay within the rules and
procedures of their own accord and do not require constant policing.
· Special care should be taken to protect the on-board batteries and pneumatics, robot
without proper protection will not be allowed to compete.
· If any team has a robot that has weapon mechanisms which do not fall under the current set of
rules, they should contact the event coordinators, so that such loopholes can be avoided.
· It is critical that before entering the arena, all the robots working, activation and deactivation is
tested for safety is the first obligation. JUDGING:-
Criteria for Victory
· During the match, any robot will be declared victorious if its opponent robot has been rendered
immobilized.
· Each round will be 10 min long, and its the aim of the competitors to immobilize the opponent
bot using any strategy they wish. TEAM SPECIFICATION :-
· Any team can participate in Robowars, Innovate 2k14. A team may consist of a maximum of 6
participants. These participants can be from same or different institutions.
· Team Name: Every team must have a name which must be unique. If Team Innovate finds out
any names discriminating or offensive in anyway then the names will be changed automatically
and the teams will be notified.
· Team Representative: Each team must specify their Team representative who will be
responsible for registration and all the communication between them and Team Innovate. It is
also the responsibility of the Leader to submit valid contact details and ID of all members at
the time of registration. Certificate Policy
· Certificate of Excellence will be given to all the winners.
· Certificates of Participation will be given to all the teams who have participated in the given
event.
· The teams which get disqualified due to disobeying any of the competition rules will not be
considered for the certificate.

· Prizes UPTO INR 20,000 to be won for best designs, engineering, weapon and other
subjective criterion (subject to discretion of judges)
