COP27 could not conclude Article 6 as they are replacing entire mechanisms with the new one. Redefining all the sets of rules, methodologies is a time consuming and intellectual work. We can just be updated with the continuous progress and that is definetely going on.
The recent update of COP27 is that their new "Executives Board" i.e. SB is formed and conducted 3 meetings so far, 28 countries have approved their Designated Authority (DNA), now they are calling sectoral experts for methodologies and tools formation.
we can positively expect that by the end of 2023 UN will come with altogether new mechanisms 6.2 and 6.4.
As the NDC targets will be met through the projects approved in article 6 only, it will be a transition phase for ongoing projects, and the luck of these projects is completely dependent on Host country's decision.
However we can expect that if UN will not allow voluntary projects with old methodologies to meet country's NDC target, still those have voluntary market. So VCM is somehow safe to be continued with current methodologies. And that's too for old projects only. Because once the Article 6 will be effective the price of old voluntary credits may go down.
New projects still have time and those should wait for Article 6.

There is no use of CDM now. As article 6 will definetely come and takeover the whole compliance market.
