Meet our CovidChallenger #3 - Pad Woman
Periods don't stop for pandemic but access to period products do. IRS officer Aman Preet, now popularly known as the Pad Woman, is challenging this situation one sanitary pad at a time. She took upon herself to meet the basic sanitary needs of 12.5 lakh underprivileged women across 17 states of India. What started as a mere act of kindness for her house help, grew into a nation-wide menstrual hygiene movement.
Posted in New Delhi as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Preet invested her own savings to start this project. Friends, batchmates, good Samaritans and NGOs quickly joined her to support her praise-worthy drive.
While Covid is tough on all of us, these inspiring stories shine light on the true fighting spirit of India. They give us the strength and motivation to continue the fight against this pandemic.
Like Aman Preet, if you or someone you know is a CovidChallenger, share your story with us, or tag them so that we can bring their kindness to light. The selected stories will win an autographed copy of - Unbreakable - Mary Kom's autobiography.
