We sincerely thank the Punjab Government for acquiring GVK Goindwal Sahib Thermal Plant in February 2024. This was a landmark decision that has strengthened Punjab's power sector and contributed to making the state more self-reliant in electricity generation.
We also appreciate the recent announcement regarding the direct contractual engagement of Punjab Government Thermal Plant contractual employees under PSPCL. However, the implementation of this decision is still pending, and we hope it is completed at the earliest.
At the same time, we would like to draw attention to another important issue. When GVK Goindwal Sahib Thermal Plant was taken over in February 2024, the regular employees of GVK—many having 2 to 30 years of valuable experience—also came under the control of PSPCL. Unfortunately, even after more than two years, the process of regularization or merger of these experienced employees into PSPCL has not been completed.
Despite this uncertainty, all GVK regular employees have continued to work with complete dedication, day and night, to ensure smooth operation of the plant. Over the past few months, we have successfully completed the major overhauling of both generating units, demonstrating our commitment to the reliable power supply of Punjab.
We humbly request the Hon'ble Punjab Government and PSPCL management to treat this matter with priority and complete the regularization/merger process of GVK regular employees into PSPCL at the earliest. Recognizing the services and experience of these employees will not only boost morale but also strengthen the long-term operation of the plant.
We remain committed to serving the people of Punjab and look forward to a positive and timely resolution.
