The award was presented at a distinguished ceremony held at The Ashok, New Delhi, where Mr. Vinod Sood, MD & Co-founder, along with Mr. Hemanta Chandra Bhatt, AVP – Quality, Hughes Systique, received the recognition from Prof. S.P.Singh Baghel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and Lt. Odisha Paryavaran Sanrakshan Abhiyan - OPSA TRUST , with support from Hughes Systique Corporation, has initiated a community-led coastal resilience and mangrove conservation initiative at the Devi River Mouth, Odisha, along India’s climate-vulnerable east coast.

As climate-related coastal risks continue to intensify across India’s east coast, the initiative focuses on strengthening mangrove ecosystems through nature-based solutions, community participation, ecological awareness, capacity building, sustainable coastal livelihoods, and wetland stewardship.

Mangroves serve as critical natural infrastructure by protecting vulnerable coastal communities from cyclones, erosion, tidal surges, and climate-related disasters, while supporting biodiversity, fisheries, blue carbon ecosystems, and long-term oceanic health.

The Devi River Mouth remains globally significant for Olive Ridley sea turtle arribada nesting, migratory birds, estuarine biodiversity, and natural coastal protection along Odisha’s coastline.

Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Chief Engineer, Hughes Systique Corporation, was invited to represent HSC at nasscom’s Engineering R&D CXO Forum, where she shared her insights on how Engineering R&D is central to the way global enterprises build, scale, and sustain product innovation, with India playing a meaningful role in this evolution. Ms. Kaur also showcased a use case titled “5G Network Slicing: From Pilot to Profit,” explaining why 5G Network Slicing has become a CXO-level decision, particularly in the context of enterprise monetisation.

The forum brought together industry leaders shaping engineering R&D for global enterprises, with discussions spanning AI, quantum security, 5G, policy signals, and startup–enterprise collaboration, all centred around a common theme: how R&D can drive tangible product outcomes and business value. The event was held at The Leela Palace, Bengaluru.

During her presentation, Ms. Kaur highlighted a critical challenge at the heart of 5G commercialisation—the missing bridge between what enterprises demand in business terms (such as guaranteed latency, reliability, and throughput) and how network standards define these requirements (including S‑NSSAI, 5QI, and QoS flows). As she noted, “This mapping today is vendor-specific, operator-specific, and largely static, and that is exactly what blocks a repeatable and scalable slicing business model.”

Ms. Kaur further elaborated on how HSC has addressed this challenge through proprietary translation and automation modules, enabling a generalised orchestration framework that converts business-level service intent directly into 3GPP‑compliant slice configurations. This approach allows deployment on any live 5G network without the need for bespoke, one‑off integrations.

Sharing her reflections on the forum, Ms. Kaur said, “It was an energising forum. The audience was deeply engaged on the question of 5G monetisation, and the broader discussions reinforced what we at HSC firmly believe: innovation must move beyond pilots into large-scale enterprise adoption, and India is playing a central role in making that happen.”

Mr. Vinod Sood, MD, Hughes Systique Corporation and Chairman, CII Digital Transformation Committee – Northern Region (NR), was invited to deliver the welcome and opening remarks at Confederation of Indian Industry's Quantum Technology Conclave which was held at Le Méridien, New Delhi.

Following his address, the conclave featured eminent speakers including the Chief Guest, Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to GoI; Dr. Nagendra Nagaraja, Founder, CEO & Chairman, QpiAI; Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, Member, CII DX Committee (NR) & Chairman, Futred Innovation Studios ; Mr. Sunil Gupta, Co-founder & CEO, QNu Labs; and Mr. Vijay Sethi, Director & Board Member, BQP.

In his remarks, Mr. Sood welcomed all distinguished leaders and elaborated on the conclave’s theme, “Quantum to Impact: From Research to Real-World Adoption.” He referenced early mentions of atoms in the Upanishads, the contributions of Satyendra Nath Bose, and significance of initiatives like the National Quantum Mission. He emphasized the need for collaboration between government, industry, academia, and startups, and highlighted the role of industry bodies in bridging innovators with industry users.

Mr. Sood also spoke about the convergence of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing as the emerging “Next Intelligence Stack.” He reaffirmed confidence in India’s strengths in AI, software, and its aspiration to become a global manufacturing hub.

While recognizing India’s progress in quantum technologies, he congratulated Dr. Nagaraja and his team for developing India’s first 25-qubit quantum computer, and Mr. Gupta and his team for creating the world’s first hybrid security platform. He also noted advancements in quantum communication, quantum-safe security, and the development of the Amravati Quantum Valley.

Acknowledging the vital role of startups, Mr. Sood stressed the importance of an enabling ecosystem with access to funding, infrastructure, and mentorship.

Congratulations to the authors of the newly published research paper, “Liver Disease Prediction Using a Hybrid Machine Learning Approach” in the Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research (ETASR) Journal!

A special shout‑out to HSCian Nitish Agrawal, whose contribution to this impactful study stands out. The paper introduces a robust AI‑powered diagnostic framework that combines Deep Learning and Machine Learning specifically a Multi‑Layer Perceptron Neural Network integrated with a Voting Classifier using XGBoost and LightGBM, achieving an impressive 95.49% accuracy in early liver disease detection.

Breakthroughs like this reflect the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and the spirit of pushing boundaries through research.

At the 34th edition of nasscom’s Technology & Leadership Forum, Mr. Vinod Sood , MD & Co-founder, Hughes Systique Corporation, was invited as a speaker to offer his valuable insights on the topic of “The next chapter of India’s tech startup ecosystem: From scale to infrastructure and impact”.
