We are happy to share that our Founder & CEO, Dr. Tania Ray Bhattacharya, recently attended the CDE–IEDS International Conference 2026, hosted by the Delhi School of Economics, where she had the opportunity to reconnect with Prof. Managi Shunsuke, her PhD advisor and a globally famous environmental economist, after several years.

She expressed her sincere gratitude to Prof. Surender Kumar for the invitation to this highly enriching conference. The event held special significance, as both Prof. Managi Shunsuke and Dr. Tania Bhattacharya have been associated with the Managi Lab at different stages of their academic journeys—during her PhD studies and during Prof. Kumar’s postdoctoral research under the mentorship of Prof. Managi.

The conference was very well organized and provided a great platform for meaningful academic discussions and knowledge sharing with international scholars. Dr. Bhattacharya also appreciated the enthusiasm, professionalism, and warm hospitality of the students of the Delhi School of Economics, whose efforts played an important role in the success of the event.

We are pleased to share that today, 1 June 2026, our Founder & CEO, Dr. Tania Ray Bhattacharya and Executive Director, Dr. Anindya Bhattacharya, met with scientists from Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) in Hyderabad to discuss the implementation of National Adaptation Planning in India’s agricultural sector, with a focus on strengthening climate resilience and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

The interaction underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping innovative, science-based pathways for climate adaptation and long-term agricultural sustainability. We look forward to continued collaboration in advancing climate-resilient agriculture in India.

We are pleased to share that our colleagues Trina Som and Jigyasa Gambhir had the opportunity to attend and present their work at the LivedHeat Symposium 2026, held on 14–15 May 2026, at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Their work on “Urban Heat Mapping and Cooling Demand Assessment: A Data-Driven Geospatial Modeling Approach for Gurugram” was selected from among 66 proposals submitted to the symposium. Organised in collaboration with Delft University of Technology, the symposium brought together researchers, practitioners, and experts working in the areas of urban heat, climate resilience, cooling demand, and sustainable urban planning.

The study was developed as part of two major projects undertaken at The Celestial Earth:
Climate Action Plan for Gurugram City
Cooling Action Plan for Gurugram City

Both projects have been officially launched by the Government of Haryana.
During the symposium, they also showcased the in-house-developed SPIBEAT Pro tool and demonstrated how it was used to create future cooling scenarios for Gurugram. The work highlighted the impact of passive cooling, active cooling, and integrated interventions on reducing cooling demand, electricity consumption, energy use, and GHG emissions up to 2050.

It was truly encouraging to receive appreciation for both the research and the SPIBEAT Pro tool from peers and researchers representing national and international institutions and organizations.

The symposium provided a valuable platform to exchange ideas and engage in meaningful discussions on urban heat resilience and sustainable cooling solutions for cities.

We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to contributing further to climate-responsive and sustainable urban development.
