Some collaborations are more than just an MoU - they are a continuation of a journey that started years ago.
For Abyom SpaceTech & Defence, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, has been a very important part of that journey. It's the place where we received some of our early manufacturing, R&D and ecosystem support while building our initial Rocket propulsion technologies.
Today, as we work toward expanding our vision for National security, indigenous Reusable Rocket technologies and dual-use defence systems, it was particularly meaningful to formalise this collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Jainul Abedin, Founder & CEO,Abyom SpaceTech & Defence and Prof. Ramgopal Rao , Group Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani. Grateful to Prof. Rao & BITS administration, whose continued support and encouragement have been valuable throughout our journey.
The MoU signing was also a significant moment, taking place in the presence of distinguished leaders from India’s space, defence and national security ecosystem, including:
• Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy- Former Chairman, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, Member National Security Advisory Board
• Dr. Jagannath Nayak- DS & Director General, Missiles & Strategic Systems (DGMSS), DRDO
• Dr. BHVS Narayana Murthy- Vice Chancellor, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), DU, DRDO, Pune
• Prof. D Sriram- Director In-Charge, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus
• Suresh Mathews Thomas, Deputy Director, MDA, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), ISRO - Indian Space Research Organisation
along with several distinguished representatives from the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, MIDHANI-A Govt. of India Enterprise, Ministry of Defence & Others.
For us, this is not simply about signing a collaboration. It is about strengthening the bridge between academia, deep-tech industry, engineering talent, national security and indigenous technology development.
The journey that began with early R&D and manufacturing support is now evolving into a broader collaboration toward building capabilities for the future.
