SELF CONSOLIDATING COCRETE
Self-consolidating concrete or self-compacting concrete(SCC) is characterized by a low yield, high deformability, and moderate viscosity necessary to ensure uniform suspension of solid particles during transportation, placement (without external compaction), and thereafter until the concrete sets.
Such concrete can be used for casting heavily reinforced sections, places where there can be no access to vi*****rs for compaction and in complex shapes of formwork which may otherwise be impossible to cast, giving a far superior surface than conventional concrete. SCC was conceptualized in 1986 by Prof. Okamura at Ouchi University, Japan.
The first generation of SCC used in North America was characterized by the use of relatively high content of binder as well as high dosages of chemicals admixtures, usually superplasticizer to enhance flowability and stability. Such high-performance concrete had been used mostly in repair applications and for casting concrete in restricted areas. The first generation of SCC was therefore characterized and specified for specialized applications.
The relatively high cost of material used in such concrete continues to hinder its widespread use in various segments of the construction industry, including commercial construction, however the productivity economics take over in achieving favorable performance benefits and works out to be economical in pre-cast industry. The incorporation of powder, including supplementary cementitious materials and filler, can increase the volume of the paste, hence enhancing deformability, and can also increase the cohesiveness of the paste and stability of the concrete. The reduction in cement content and increase in packing density of materials finer than 80 µm, like fly ash etc. can reduce the water-cement ratio, and the high-range water reducer (HRWR) demand. The reduction in free water can reduce the concentration of viscosity-enhancing admixture (VEA) necessary to ensure proper stability during casting and thereafter until the onset of hardening. It has been demonstrated that a total sand content of about 50% of total aggregate is favorable in designing for SCC.
The major breakthrough in SCC technology came with the advent of third generation poly-carboxylic ether based polymers, used as admixtures. The further developments were subsequent with introduction of VEA, to improve stability without undue increase in binder, which could cause plastic shrinkage of concrete.

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is a royal Islamic mosque located in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of the Sultanate of Brunei. The mosque is one of the most spectacular mosques in the Asia Pacific and a major landmark and tourist attraction of Brunei. The mosque unites Mughal architecture and Italian styles. The mosque is built in an artificial lagoon on the banks of the Brunei River at Kampong Ayer, the "village in the water". It has marble minarets and golden domes with courtyards and lush gardens full of fountains. The mosque is surrounded by a plethora of trees and floral gardens which in Islam symbolize heaven. A bridge reaches across the lagoon to Kampong Ayer in the middle of the river. Another marble bridge leads to a structure in the lagoon meant as a replica of a 16th Century Sultan Bolkiah mahligai barge. It was built to commemorate the 1,400th anniversary of Nuzul Al-Quran (coming down of the Quran), completed in 1967 and used to stage Quran reading competitions.

Seoul, South Korea Banpo Bridge.

On 9 September 2008, the Banpo Bridge in Seoul (South Korea) got a major face-lift: 10,000 nozzle fountain that runs all the way on both sides. Immediately after being installed, the bridge turned into a major tourist attraction, as the bridge pumps out 190 tons of water per minute using the water from the river below.
The bridge is a structure made of various materials such as, Wood, Concrete (concrete), Steel, and Tali Anyam, which is basically useless to cross gaps or obstacles such as rivers, railroads or highways.

DUBAI PEARL:

Dubai Pearl is a 1.85 million-square meter mixed-use development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that is currently under construction. It consists of four mixed-use towers connected together at the base and by a sky bridge at the top. The four towers will be 300 m (984 ft) and will have 73 floors each. Construction is set for completion in 2013.
The structural design was carried out by Dubai based engineering firm eConstruct*.
Construction was started in 2008, and the project will cost $4 billion (Dh14.6 billion). Once completed Dubai Pearl will accommodate 9,000 residents and its commercial sector will employ 12,000 people.
