The Ultrafil Reverse Osmosis ( URO Series ) plants are the latest generation water treatment
systems using reverse osmosis technology. The equipment is totally skid mounted, factory assembled
and ready to operate after hook up to the user’s system. Membranes are loaded into the system at site
to ensure safety of the membranes. The whole equipment is mounted on a fabricated box section skid th
at is rigid and light. The skid is of
SS to ensure Hygiene and long life. No extensive civil foundation is required; but just a flat, level
surface. A feed pump feeds the water to the high pressure pump through two cartridge filters of 20 and 5
microns. The feed pump ensures adequate feed water flow at the requisite pressure to the high
pressure pump. Thus the user is required to just provide adequate flow of water to the plant by
way of a ground level storage tank and a feed pump. The micron cartridge filters, filter out any
turbidity or suspended solids down to 5 microns or less which is safe for the membranes. In case
feed water has excess turbidity, a sand filter is required prior to micron filtration. A high pressure pump boosts the feed flow and pressure to that required, to enable the membrane to
split the feed stream into concentrate and permeate streams. This pump is in stainless steel, vertical,
multi-stage, centrifugal, high efficiency, designed to work continuously round the clock. Being a
differential head pump; it ought to be ensured that the feed pressure and flow to the pump is
maintained. To safeguard the pump from damage due to low pressure and flow, a low pressure switch
is provided on the pump suction which trips the pump in case of low flow/pressure. A high pressure
switch installed on the delivery of the pump safe-guards it against undue pressurisation of the pressure
vessel and the membrane/s in it. The high pressure pump delivers water at designed head and discharge to the pressure vessel
(membrane housing) containing the membrane/s. This pressure vessel is constructed in FRP or SS. The membrane housed in the pressure vessel splits the feed water stream into two: one the
concentrate stream which is led to drain carrying with it the separated minerals; the other the permeate
stream which is the quality treated water. Both streams pass through measuring instruments that
measure the amount of product and reject waters produced by the plant. Here a part of the reject can
also be fed back into the feed to increase the recovery and system performance (Optional). An electrical control panel with all the necessary electricals and safety/trip circuitry is provided on the
plant itself. Pressure gauges to monitor the pressures at the feed and reject ends are mounted on the plant. The product water is collected in SS storage tank. From there the water is pumped using a SS pump to
filling station through 0.45 micron filter. The water is ozonated using an ozonator just after the 0.45
micron filter to prevent post contamination of drinking water. Optionally an UV system can also be
installed prior to filling as additional precaution from post-contamination of drinking water. In case the product water pH is below 6.5, the following procedures may be taken for correction :
1. Raw water blending with product water, after properly treating the blending water for
microbiological contamination.
2. Using a degasser for the product water.
3. Boosting the feed water / product water pH by alkaline dosing.
