Mixing systems generally supply air such that the supply air mixes with the room air so that the mixed air is at the room design temperature and humidity. In cooling mode, the cool supply air, typically around 55 °F (13 °C) (saturated) at design conditions, exits an outlet at high velocity. The high velocity supply air stream causes turbulence causing the room air to mix with the supply air. Because the entire room is near-fully mixed, temperature variations are small while the contaminant concentration is fairly uniform throughout the entire room. Diffusers are normally used as the air outlets to create the high velocity supply air stream. Most often, the air outlets and inlets are placed in the ceiling. Supply diffusers in the ceiling are fed by fan coil units in the ceiling void or by air handling units in a remote plant room. The fan coil or handling unit take in return air from the ceiling void and mix this with fresh air and cool, or heat it, as required to achieve the room design conditions. This arrangement is known as 'conventional room air distribution'

EXAMPLES OF DUCTING.....

Galvanized mild steel is the standard and most common material used in fabricating ductwork because the zinc coating of this metal prevents rusting and avoids cost of painting. For insulation purposes, metal ducts are typically lined with faced fiberglass blankets (duct liner) or wrapped externally with fiberglass blankets (duct wrap). When necessary, a double walled duct is used. This will usually have an inner perforated liner, then a 1–2" layer of fiberglass insulation contained inside an outer solid pipe.

Rectangular ductwork commonly is fabricated to suit by specialized metal shops. For ease of handling, it most often comes in 4' sections (or joints). Round duct is made using a continuous spiral forming machine which can make round duct in nearly any diameter when using the right forming die and to any length to suit, but the most common stock sizes range evenly from 4" to 24" with 6"-12" being most commonly used. Stock pipe is usually sold in 10' joints. There are also 5' joints of the non-spiral type pipe available, which is commonly used in residential applications

A cool store is essentially a large, insulated box with a refrigeration system and a door. Temperature will vary in different areas inside the room depending on airflow, the way produce has been loaded inside, and the amount of heat contained within that produce.

The design of cool rooms needs to take into account a number of criteria:

Temperature range.
Accuracy of control.
Degree of spatial variation within the room.
Cooling capacity.
Running costs.

Underdeck insulation – heat reducing technique in industrial process or plant or Banquets

Underdeck insulation in an industrial process or plant is often neglected but is one of the most important techniques to reduce the heat inflow. Underdeck insulation ensures low consumption of energy that is spent on maintaining inner atmosphere of the plant and also stops the radiant heat entering the factory that increases the temperature substantially. Underdeck insulation may not add to the cost of construction as its payback period in the form of lower energy bills is very short. It should be noted that underdeck insulation helps not only to reduce energy consumption and energy bills but also helps to make significant input for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
