The valedictory function held on April 24th, 2019 marked the end of the academic year 2018-2019 for the SRM Society of Civil Engineers
The session was convened by the Head of Department, Dr. K.S. Satyanarayanan, and was privileged to have Mr. R. Vivekanandan, Director of Metecno India Pvt. LTD as our Chief Guest.
Mr. R. Vivekanandan shared his experiences with the students and briefed them on the difficulties faced by an aspiring Civil Engineer.

The session of valedictory program felicitated students for BEST OUTGOING STUDENT, the award of excellence in- sports, academics, research, outstanding performance in GATE.

An FSM (Faecal Sludge Management) awareness programme was held on 21st August, 2018 by the SRM Society of Civil Engineers. The programme which is in association and is supported by the UNESCO/IHE DELFT and also by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was convened by Professor Anil Dutt Vyas, Department of Civil Engineering, Manipal University Jaipur.
The programme aimed at inducing general awareness amongst the Students of Science, Engineering, Management, Sanitation Officials, Utilities, Municipal Corporations and every one who is dealing with Cleaning campaigns in Cities across countries in South Asia in FSM.

The Inaugural function held on August 20th, 2018 marked the beginning of the academic year 2018-2019 for the SRM Society of Civil Engineers with the announcement of the various Office Bearers of the Society.
The session was convened by the Head of Department, Dr. K.S. Satyanarayanan, and was privileged to have Mr. R. Radhakrishnan, Secretary General of the Indian Concrete Institute as the Chief Guest.
Mr. R. Radhakrishnan shared his experiences with the students and briefed them with the difficulties faced by an aspiring Civil Engineer and how the Indian Concrete Institute is trying to help students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and their practical applications. He also briefed them on the various events and technical activities conducted by the Indian Concrete Institute for developing practical knowledge in students.

A special guest was invited to the Department of Civil Engineering, DR. A. GNANAMANI (Microbiology Division CSIR- CLRI, Adyar, Chennai) on 25th February 2017. Her career and devotion to what she was doing inspired each and every student.She divided her lecture into two parts .In first session she discussed about the Role of Microbial Products in Understanding the Origin of Life. She explained what a self-assembly is with many examples and pictures.In the second session she dealt with Role of Microbial products in Waste Management. The guest lecture proved to be extremely beneficial for the students attending it.

A seminar on Various Aspects of Construction Contract and Arbitration was held by the Department of Civil Engineering at the CRC seminar hall. The chief guest, Mr. Er. K. Ganesan, Chairman of Indian Institute of Technical Arbitrators started his lecture on “Overview of Contracts and Contract Management” and explained the topic by citing his personal experiences. He explained in a nutshell as to what are contracts and its need in the industry. He motivated young minds to explore more and be updated.
