Aero Unwired

Aero Unwired A team of undergraduate students extremely passionate about aircrafts and aeromodelling. Club Aerounwired: Visibly brilliant.

We’re just another organization of those brilliant minds of NITC, with one difference. We don’t let go of our inquisitive nature. We use it to drive ourselves and push ourselves further so as to understand the ways of nature, the laws of the universe and the beauty of science.

SAE, Society of Automotive Engineers, is one of the biggest platforms to showcase extraordinary talent in the field of engineering. Every year, the SAE conducts 'Aero Design Challenge' in which our club takes part. Before the competition there will be a 2-day workshop conducted by SAE. This year it was conducted on November 9 and 10 in Coimbatore. Our club actively participated in the workshop which was mainly based on basic aero designing. Our team had designed and fabricated a basic model in just 2 days. Being surrounded by competent minds in the room made for an electric atmosphere. It was indeed a great experience.

It is an immense pleasure to announce that our team participated in the regular category of SAE ADC 2019 held at SRMIST, Chennai and secured the 18th position among 65 teams. Being able to see other vibrant minds at work challenged us to touch even greater heights. The experience helped us grow and renew ourselves in the basics of aeronautic technology..

The Aerospatiale SA-2 Samson from Avatar, the batmobile or pods from stat trek all have one common thing is its ability to maneuver in confined spaces and human cargo. To get this vehicle on the road, the tech giants should have to consider the power density required for powerup distributed propulsion system of these pods. Without positive control mobility, it is going face serious challenged in Vertical take-off and landing (VTOL).

A new study of the environmental sustainability impacts of flying cars, formally known as electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, or VTOLs, finds that they wouldn't be suitable for a Jetsons-style short commute.

The vane-barb-barbule structure further could lead to the development of new materials for aerospace applications, and new adhesives -- think Velcro and its barbs.
One thing, we are sure that other than adhesives, it offers a lightweight structure for flight. We can design a whole class of new wings for micro UAV's. And, such wings will be thin, lightweight, translucent hence invisible to an enemy in sunlight and shall produce less noise during flight.
We appreciate the work of Ms. Tarah Naoe Sullivan, Ph.D., UCSD.

The structures zipping together the barbs in bird feathers could provide a model for new adhesives and new aerospace materials, according to a new study. Researchers 3D printed models of the structures to better understand their properties.
