One common myth about solar energy is that it doesn't work during winter months or in cold climates. However, this is not entirely true.
Solar panels can still generate electricity on cloudy or cold days, although the output may be lower. In fact:
- Solar panels work on sunlight, not heat, so they can still generate electricity even in cold temperatures.
- Modern solar panels are designed to operate efficiently in a wide range of temperatures.
- While snow cover can reduce solar panel output, most solar panels are designed to withstand snow loads and can still generate some electricity even under a layer of snow.
So, while solar energy production may be lower during winter months, it's just a myth that solar energy doesn't work in winter.
