Proud to announce the successful completion of a technically challenging project by StructCAD Design & Engineering — a PEB Shipbuilding Unit measuring 25m x 90m (2,250 sqm / ~24,200 sq.ft), equipped with 2 × 30-ton EOT cranes and 1 × 6-ton semi-girder crane.
Located right beside the sea bed, the structure is supported on a comprehensive pile and pile-cap foundation system, demanding robust engineering and high structural reliability.
This project required meticulous design of both the PEB superstructure and the deep foundation system. The heavy crane loads on a 25-meter clear span, combined with coastal wind pressures, posed significant challenges in achieving overall stability, deflection control, and fatigue resistance. Simultaneously, marine soil conditions, high water tables, and exposure to chlorides added complexity to the pile design.
StructCAD addressed these challenges using advanced FEM structural modelling, PEB optimization, and detailed pile–soil interaction analysis. We engineered customized moment-resisting frames, optimized rafters, and robust crane runway beams while ensuring seamless load transfer to the pile caps.
Our team also detailed the piles and caps with enhanced reinforcement and construction-friendly detailing to ensure long-term durability.
A sincere appreciation to our engineers for delivering this high-precision, coastal-grade PEB solution. On to the next challenge!
