For Bolted Tank Jacking System testing in a manufacturing workshop, the testing should verify the complete jacking equipment before it is mobilized to site.
Recommended Workshop Testing Sequence
Visual & dimensional inspection
Jack body, cylinder, base plate and lifting head
Pins, bolts, hoses and fittings
Hydraulic power pack and control panel
Check for cracks, deformation, leakage or damaged threads.
Hydraulic pressure test
Connect all jacks to the hydraulic power unit.
Check hoses, manifolds, valves and connections for leakage.
Gradually increase pressure to the manufacturer-approved test pressure.
Hold pressure for the specified duration and record pressure loss, if any.
Individual jack load test
Test each hydraulic jack individually.
Apply the specified proof/test load using a calibrated test arrangement.
Check cylinder movement, stability and load-holding capability.
Record jack ID, rated capacity, test load and result.
Synchronized lifting test
Connect multiple jacks to the synchronization/control system.
Carry out trial lifting without the actual tank.
Check that all jacks extend and retract uniformly.
Verify the allowable height difference between jacks as specified by the system manufacturer/engineering design.
Load-holding test
Raise the test load to the required height.
Stop the hydraulic power unit.
Confirm that the load remains safely supported without unacceptable pressure loss or movement.
Emergency/functional testing
Emergency stop
Hydraulic isolation valves
Pressure relief valve
Manual lowering/emergency lowering system
Control panel and alarms
Limit/position sensors, where provided.
Documentation Prepare a Workshop Test & Inspection Report containing:
Equipment/jack identification number
Manufacturer and model
Rated capacity
Hydraulic working pressure
Test pressure/load
Calibration certificates
Test date
Inspection results
Leakage/pressure-holding results
Inspector/client approval
Remarks and photographs.
Important: The actual test pressure, proof load, holding time and allowable movement should be taken from the jack manufacturer's instructions and the approved engineering/jacking plan. Do not select a test pressure or overload the jack based only on its nominal capacity.
