In the early 70’s the company used to buy & sell, from various key manufacturers in USA & EUROPE. The principle of trading In TiO2, is based on the need that, the majority of customers, would not be able to import in Full Container Load (FCL) & distributors like ITC would cater to the needs of such small and medium sized customer by importing in bulk & supplying small quantities as required. iO2 suppliers would normally supply in FCL only & were averse to accepting orders which were not for FCL, traditionally. The incentive for the trader, such as ITC, was the premium that they could fetch from their customer, in supplying small quantity at a higher price. Upen .K. Parekh, joined his father, followed by his brother Mr. Naresh .K. Parekh, in 1983. The performance of ITC was above average, by industry standards, but the entire future scenario of the company changed dramatically, after being appointed as authorized distributor by DuPont for its Titanium Dioxide brand “Ti-Pure”, in 1988.
