Aeromodelling Club | Projects 2026

This year, the Aeromodelling Club is pushing beyond conventional flight and into systems that think, adapt, and perform under real constraints.

From VTOL platforms and ornithopters to self-stabilizing flight control units, our 2026 projects dive deep into flight dynamics and control. On the autonomy front, we’re exploring vision-based systems with ArUco detection and developing AQI-measuring surveillance drones that combine sensing with intelligent navigation. Extending beyond the skies, the club is also working on TVC-VL model rocketry and high-impact combat robotics, bringing propulsion and mechanical design into the spotlight.

These projects are built to be hands-on, technically demanding, and driven by engineering rigor.

Happy New Year everyone! 🎇
We’re back with Chapter 2 of the REWIND of RC Plane Competition 2025! ✈️

To kick things off, we thought we’d take a quick walk down memory lane and revisit one of the most fun parts of RC plane: the build and simulator sessions. The Tinkerers’ Laboratory was buzzing with ideas, experimental designs, and those long build nights spent doing calculations, trying out bold designs, that sense of accomplishment on getting flawless bevel cuts, and trying to get those perfect airfoils by applying just the right amount of pressure, we can certainly say that we built more than just aircraft designs, we built memories, few of the best days of first year. From morphing wings designs, smooth gliders and stick fuselages to twin fuselage and bi planes , the build sessions were nothing short of iconic. 🔥

At the same time, our future pilots were busy leveling up their skills in immersive Simulator Sessions getting hands on with transmitters on the Phoenix RC Simulator and getting rigorous practice before getting ready for the skies. From childhood RC dreams coming alive at the simulator, pushing joysticks, trying crazy maneuvers, and keeping planes airborne, we saw some great dedication there.

And trust us this journey is far from over. Stay tuned, because Level 3 is already on the runway and ready for takeoff! 🛩️

Before you move on to the next semester, let’s take a moment to rewind. Back to the chaos, the learning, the late nights, and the flights that made this RC Plane Competition unforgettable !!!!

The Aeromodelling Club of IIT Bombay brings you THE REWIND, a throwback to a season packed with ideas turning into aircraft, strangers turning into teammates, and first-time flyers discovering the joy of building something that actually flies.

This year saw an incredible number of participants, all chasing the same thing, the thrill of watching their plane lift off the ground. From curious beginnings to confident designs, it was a journey of trial, error, and growth.

It all kicked off with the Orientation and Design Sessions, where teams got their first hands-on experience with aeromodelling.

And this was just the beginning.
More moments, more memories, and more stories coming your way as we roll out the RewindSeries. Stay tuned, the best parts are still ahead!!
