The Computer Society of India (CSI) – Student Chapter of St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering (Autonomous), Nagercoil, successfully organized a hands-on workshop titled “The Art of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)” on 08 August 2026.

The session was expertly conducted by Mr. Abishek S, SEO Analyst, ALO InfoTech, Nagercoil, and Mr. Ajay A, Digital Marketing Executive, ALO InfoTech, Nagercoil.

The workshop provided students with valuable insights into the fundamentals and practical applications of Search Engine Optimization and Digital Marketing, covering:

🚀 Workshop on “Using AI for Fundraising & Investor Pitch Preparation”

The Startup Cell, St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, successfully organized a workshop on “Using AI for Fundraising & Investor Pitch Preparation” on 7 August 2026.

The session was led by Mr. Dolan Rajkumar, Founder & CEO, Techie Crew, who provided valuable practical insights into leveraging Artificial Intelligence for startup fundraising and investor engagement.

The workshop covered key aspects of:
🔹 Identifying potential funding opportunities using AI
🔹 Analysing markets and understanding emerging opportunities
🔹 Using AI tools to develop compelling investor pitch decks
🔹 Strengthening startup ideas for effective investor communication

The interactive session enabled participants to gain practical perspectives on how AI can support entrepreneurs in making data-driven decisions, refining business strategies, and presenting innovative ideas with greater impact.

A total of 75 students and 3 faculty members participated in the workshop, making it an engaging platform for learning, ideation, and entrepreneurial development.

🚀 Centre of Excellence for EDA Tools Inaugurated – Empowering the Next Generation of VLSI & Semiconductor Designers

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, proudly inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for EDA Tools on 5 August 2026 at the VLSI Laboratory.

The Centre is envisioned as a platform to strengthen students’ expertise in Electronic Design Automation (EDA), VLSI design, and semiconductor technologies, while providing hands-on exposure to modern industry-standard tools, design methodologies, and practices.

The inaugural programme began with the Welcome Address by Dr. S. Caroline, HoD/ECE, followed by the formal inauguration through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing by the Correspondent.

🔹 Dr. Y. R. Annie Bessant, Associate Professor/ECE, introduced the Centre of Excellence and highlighted its objectives, facilities, and vision.
🔹 Dr. J. Maheswaran, Principal, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of strengthening industry-oriented technical skills.
🔹 Mr. B. Deepesh, Industry Expert, delivered a Special Address on emerging industry trends in EDA, VLSI, and semiconductor design.
🔹 Rev. Fr. Godwin Selva Justus, Correspondent, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the evolution of innovation from the Digital Era to the Chip Era.
🔹 Dr. T. Latha, Professor/ECE, presented an overview of the EDA tools, facilities, and resources available through the Centre.
🔹 Mrs. V. Femila Savio, Assistant Professor/ECE, announced the upcoming training programmes to be conducted through the Centre of Excellence.
🔹 The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. S. Absa, AHoD/ECE.

This Centre marks a significant step towards fostering innovation, strengthening practical skills, and preparing aspiring electronics engineers for careers in VLSI and the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry.

Designed to ease the transition from school to college, the programme provided students with a strong academic and personal foundation through interactive sessions on English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Education, Sports, Library Orientation, Departmental Activities, Motivation & Counselling, and Placement Training.

The session was delivered by Dr. J. Banumathi, Assistant Professor (Selection Grade), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University College of Engineering, Nagercoil. The session provided participants with valuable insights into the future of Artificial Intelligence in cybersecurity, highlighting how emerging AI technologies are reshaping cyber defense strategies. The resource person discussed the evolving threat landscape, the role of intelligent automation, explainable AI, predictive security, and the challenges and opportunities associated with adopting AI-driven cybersecurity solutions in the years ahead.

The session provided participants with valuable insights into the importance of Security Analytics and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) in modern cybersecurity operations. The resource person explained how organizations leverage SIEM platforms to collect, correlate, monitor, and analyze security events in real time, enabling faster threat detection, efficient incident response, and proactive cyber defense. The session provided participants with valuable insights into the concept of Purple Teaming, where offensive (Red Team) and defensive (Blue Team) security strategies are integrated to build a collaborative and resilient cybersecurity framework. The resource person demonstrated how Artificial Intelligence enhances threat detection, incident response, attack simulation, and security validation, enabling organizations to proactively strengthen their cyber defense posture.
