At the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) – GIZ India workshop on Introduction and Adoption of Biomass for Green Steam and Heat Applications in MSMEs, Varun Karad, CEO of RED, shared industry perspectives on advancing biomass aggregation through digital platforms.
His remarks highlighted a critical reality of India’s biomass ecosystem: availability is not the challenge. The real gaps lie in aggregation, logistics, price discovery, and demand assurance. Addressing these bottlenecks is essential for biomass to meaningfully support industrial decarbonisation and MSME energy transition.
He emphasised that digital platforms can play a transformative role if they move beyond basic matchmaking and enable transparent pricing, quality standardisation, traceability, and long-term offtake confidence for farmers, aggregators, and industries alike.
At RED, we continue to work across the biomass value chain to strengthen feedstock systems, improve aggregation efficiency, and enable scalable bioenergy solutions that align agricultural residue management with industrial clean energy needs.
