The Goa Electricity Department in association with Goa Engineering College conducted a detailed day-long technical workshop on Smart Metering at Goa Engineering College, Ponda, bringing together industry representatives, faculty members, engineering professionals, and engineering students from across the State. The workshopwas supported by State’s smart metering implementation agency, DigiSmart Networks Pvt. Ltd.,

The session focused on the functional aspects of Smart Meter technology and included a comprehensive live demonstration of meter operations and backend software systems. The interactive discussions reflected strong engagement from academia and industry on the role of digital metering in strengthening Goa’s power distribution infrastructure.

As part of the statewide Smart Meter awareness initiative, the Goa Electricity Department conducted a large-scale workshop for Energy Clubs, engaging students and teachers from more than 100 schools across the State.

The session, led by Superintendent Engineer and Nodal Officer (Smart Metering) Shri Mayur Hede, introduced participants to Smart Meter technology, how it functions, and how it enhances transparency and service efficiency. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation, with students actively engaging and asking thoughtful questions about Smart Metering.

Informational guides and FAQs were distributed to schools to maintain awareness among households and communities as Goa prepares for the phased replacement of over 7.5 lakh conventional meters with Smart Prepaid Meters.

3 day training on Operational safety & Disaster Management under RDSS for line staff was held at Staff Training Centre, Ponda from 4th to 6th December 2025 ( Batches 1&2) and 8th to 10th December 2025 ( Batches 3&4). Topics such as best practices in operation and maintenance, introduction to GIS, condition monitoring of Transformers and circuit breakers, overview of transmission and distribution in India, details of fire safety & electrical safety, procedure of power restoration etc were taken up for 120 line staff.Some pics follow:
