Invest in Parbhani | Agriculture, Food Processing, Clean Energy & Employment Generation

I had the opportunity to participate in the Invest in Parbhani programme on behalf of Baliraja Food Agriculture Industry LLP.

During the programme, I presented our perspective on the potential for agriculture, agri-allied processing industries, food processing and clean energy to drive employment generation and strengthen the rural economy across Parbhani and the entire Marathwada region.

A memorandum was also submitted to Hon. Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, Guardian Minister of Parbhani District, highlighting the practical challenges faced while establishing and operating agriculture-based industries.

We specifically discussed the challenges related to regulations, approvals, electricity connections and other procedures involved in the adoption of solar energy in agriculture and agri-allied processing industries.

Expanding the use of solar energy in agricultural processing can:

• Reduce energy costs for industries
• Make agricultural processing more cost-effective
• Encourage new industries in rural areas
• Create local employment opportunities for youth
• Promote clean and sustainable energy

We emphasized the need for simple, transparent and industry-friendly regulations to facilitate the adoption of solar energy in agriculture and agri-processing industries.

We also discussed the need to simplify industrial establishment procedures, strengthen infrastructure, improve access to finance, and provide greater support to local entrepreneurs.

Agriculture + Processing Industry + Clean Energy = Rural Employment + Economic Prosperity

With the right ecosystem, Parbhani and Marathwada can transform their agricultural resources, local talent and youth potential into value-added industries, employment opportunities and sustainable economic growth.

Strong collaboration between Government + Industry + Farmers is essential to make this vision a reality.

India’s Edible Oil Import Bill: A Challenge and an Opportunity for Indian Agriculture
India continues to spend a significant amount of foreign exchange on edible oil imports. During the current oil year 2025–26, India’s edible oil import bill is estimated to reach around ₹1.75 lakh crore.
This is not merely an import figure—it is an important issue for India’s agricultural economy, farmers’ income and food security.
If India has enormous potential to produce oilseeds, why do we still depend so heavily on imported edible oils?
Edible oil imports are directly connected with:

Better and more stable market opportunities for farmers
Expansion of soybean, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, sesame and other oilseed crops

Reducing edible oil imports is not only about saving foreign exchange.
It is about increasing productivity, creating rural industries, strengthening farmers’ incomes and building a resilient domestic food system.
The most sustainable way to save foreign exchange is to increase production and value addition on Indian farms.

India's Pulse Market Remains Resilient Amid Stable Retail Prices

India's pulse market has demonstrated remarkable resilience over the past year, with retail prices remaining largely stable despite modest increases. Record foodgrain production and adequate government buffer stocks have played a crucial role in maintaining market equilibrium.
The stability in pulse prices reflects the strength of domestic agricultural production, efficient stock management, and timely policy interventions.

A resilient agricultural ecosystem, strategic buffer stocks, and continuous market monitoring are essential for ensuring food security and protecting both farmers and consumers from unnecessary price volatility.

As India moves toward sustainable agriculture and rural prosperity, strengthening the pulse sector will remain a key driver of economic growth and nutritional security.

भारत–अफगाणिस्तान कृषी सहकार्य : शेतकऱ्यांसाठी नवी आशा 🇮🇳🤝🇦🇫

अफगाणिस्तानने कृषी संशोधन, कृषी शिक्षण, सुधारित बियाण्यांच्या नव्या वाणांचा विकास, आधुनिक शेती पद्धती, सिंचन, जलव्यवस्थापन आणि शेतकऱ्यांच्या क्षमता विकास अशा महत्त्वाच्या क्षेत्रांमध्ये भारताच्या सहकार्याची अपेक्षा व्यक्त केली आहे.

विशेषतः ड्रायलँड अॅग्रिकल्चर (कोरडवाहू शेती) या क्षेत्रात दोन्ही देशांमध्ये व्यापक सहकार्याच्या संधींबाबत सकारात्मक चर्चा झाली. हे सहकार्य प्रभावीपणे पुढे गेले, तर दोन्ही देशांतील शेतकऱ्यांना आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञान, अधिक उत्पादन, जलसंधारण आणि शाश्वत शेती व्यवस्थेचा मोठा लाभ होऊ शकतो.

भारतातील कृषी क्षेत्रातील अनुभव आणि अफगाणिस्तानच्या गरजांचा समन्वय हा प्रादेशिक कृषी विकास, अन्नसुरक्षा आणि शाश्वत शेतीला नवी दिशा देणारा महत्त्वपूर्ण टप्पा ठरू शकतो.

At Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow, the “Fruit Horizon 2026” event served as an excellent platform for meaningful discussions on horticulture, fruit production, agricultural innovation, export opportunities, and strategies for enhancing farmers’ income.

The program highlighted modern agricultural technologies, value addition, post-harvest management, export-oriented production, and innovations in the horticulture sector. The event proved to be highly inspiring and opened new avenues of opportunities for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and stakeholders connected with the fruit industry.

Mango growers, exporters, stakeholders, agricultural scientists, and senior officials actively participated in the event. “Fruit Horizon 2026” emerged as an important initiative toward strengthening the horticulture sector and preparing Indian fruit production for global competitiveness.

Nestled across nearly 400 acres, the 17th-century Mughal-era Himayat Bagh is not just a historical landmark, but a living legacy of horticultural research and biodiversity conservation.

Today, this historic site functions as an important Tamarind and Fruit Research Centre under Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth.

What many people still do not know is that Himayat Bagh preserves a priceless collection of rare and traditional mango varieties.
Several indigenous, heritage, and research-important mango cultivars are conserved here, making the centre highly valuable for climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and future horticultural research.
