Official Launch: CSTERC Women AstroPreneurs Collective (CWAPC)!

We’re beyond excited to share that CSTERC Women AstroPreneurs Collective (CWAPC) is now officially launched! This initiative is one of the 14 projects supported by The International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Development (IAU-OAD), and it marks a crucial step in breaking gender barriers in STEM.

does this matter? For generations, women have been kept away from technical fields, told that working with machinery or building scientific tools isn’t for them. CWAPC is here to change that. Our collective will train and empower first-generation women graduates from rural backgrounds to manufacture telescopes and astronomical instruments, giving them not just technical expertise but a pathway to financial independence. This is more than a project. It’s a movement.

We are building the first women-led astronomical product manufacturing collective in our region. But for it to thrive, we need a strong ecosystem of support—mentorship, partnerships, and resources that can sustain and expand this vision.

you’re an educator, astronomer, engineer, entrepreneur, or someone who believes in reshaping opportunities for women in STEM, we’d love to connect.

When curiosity meets inspiration, a special day for our young space enthusiasts! 🌌

As part of Open Space Foundation's Project Vinveli, we had the privilege to host Dr. T.V. Venkateswaran. Over 210 students from 7 government schools in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts of Kerala, got to learn from one of the best in the field, in a session delivered in Malayalam—their language, their world. And what a difference that made!

We’re now past the halfway mark of our year-long astronomy journey, and this moment showed us the kind of impact we’re making together. The confidence and creativity we see in these students? It’s everything we hoped for and more.

Here’s what stood out:
✨ The kids came alive. They asked bold questions. They weren’t worried about being judged anymore.
✨ Their curiosity reached new heights, and their perspectives became refreshingly unique.
✨ they owned the conversation—turning learning into an adventure, not a chore.

A huge thank you to Dr. TVV for breaking down the mysteries of the cosmos with such ease and warmth—and for doing it in a way that truly connected with the kids.

And also huge thanks to all the teacher coordinators for taking time and effort for supporting us in sustaining this year long project.

This is just the beginning. Who knows? The next great astronomer might be sitting in one of these classrooms right now.
