A wrist strap is not protection simply because an operator is wearing one.
It needs proper skin contact, connection to a verified common ground point and regular testing.
A damaged or incorrectly worn strap can leave an operator handling sensitive components without effective protection while everyone assumes the ESD requirement has been met.
Wearing is not the same as verifying.

Not feeling a static shock does not mean an electronics assembly environment is safe.
The human body may not perceive electrostatic discharge below approximately 3,500 volts, while sensitive electronic components can be damaged at much lower levels.
That is what makes ESD particularly dangerous. Damage can happen silently and remain invisible until a product fails later.
Protection should never depend on what an operator can feel.

Effective protection depends on multiple elements working together, including an ESD-safe work surface, a verified ground path and a properly grounded wrist strap.
When one part of the system fails, sensitive components can remain exposed even though the workstation appears protected.
