Positioning repeatability (R).
Systematic positioning error (E).
Reversal (B) (Backlash).
Mean reversal error.
Range of mean bidirectional positioning error (M).
Methodology –
Set of 5 repetitions of 'As Is' condition to understand behavior and abnormality in the axis.
Set of 3 repetitions by changing existing pitch error compensation and Backlash compensation values to 'Zero' to understand pitch error and wear pattern without correction.
Set of 5 repetitions after putting new software derived Pitch error compensation and Backlash compensation values.
Set of 1 repetition to find out Feed Backlash value.
Set of 2 repetitions after correction of Feed Backlash for verification.
Sr. No. 4 and 5 are applicable in case of Fanuc and Mitsubishi Controllers.
We capture readings at 10 to 15 equal intervals irrespective of stroke length.
Prerequisites :
It is necessary to complete Machine Leveling, Geometric Accuracy Tests, Lubrication & other preventive maintenance activities before our engineer reaches the site.
It is necessary to remove the fixtures and clamps mounted on the table of the machine to calibrate full stroke length of axis.
It is necessary to disable Machine safety interlocks like Door Interlock, Job Clamp Interlock etc to run the machine in Auto Cycle Mode.
The Customer has to ensure that the pitch error compensation facility is available in your controller and it is enabled.
It is expected that the machine is kept free on the day of calibration.
Important -
Laser calibration and Ballbar tests are primary diagnostic test tools used for diagnosing errors in the machine.
Compensation for Pitch Errors will be carried out only for those controllers which have the Pitch Error Parameters enabled and active. It will be in the interest of the customer to know the procedure for Pitch Error Compensation.
It is necessary for customer to know the feedback system of each axis i.e. Motor Encoder, External Encoder, Glass Linear scale, Magnetic Scale etc.
Please ensure that there is program transfer facility in the machine. (If not, must be communicated in advance)
Availability of Edit Key is essential.
Availability of Singe phase connection and one office table is essential near the machine.
In case for any reason, the machine needs to be inspected for second time, then additional charges as per agreed rate will be levied.
Presence of your Maintenance personnel and Machine operator is essential for the calibration activity.
It is necessary to take system back-up before and after calibration activity.
