Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri presented the CHT Innovation Award 2025–26 to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), recognised as a Joint Winner in the Best Innovation in Refinery category, at the 29th Energy Technology & Innovation Meet (ETM-2026) on 27 October 2026 at ATI-ONGC, Goa.

The award recognises BPCL’s breakthrough digital technology for Closed-Loop Real-Time Optimisation (CLRTO) of Crude Distillation Units, developed by BPCL’s Corporate R&D Centre and implemented at Kochi Refinery.

This achievement reflects BPCL’s commitment to indigenous R&D, digital transformation and operational excellence in the refining sector.

Strengthening India’s natural gas infrastructure calls for sustained collaboration, constructive dialogue and a shared vision for growth.

PNGRB Chairman, Shri Anil Kumar Jain, along with other senior officials, were invited by BPCL for Urja Samvaad.

The meeting, led by Shri Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), BPCL, focused on discussing ways to strengthen BPCL’s pipeline infrastructure and accelerate the expansion of the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) ecosystem.

The deliberations centred on addressing challenges in expanding PNG access across states, identifying growth opportunities and exploring pathways for effective ex*****on of pipeline infrastructure projects.

Shri Pardeep Goyal, Head (Retail), Shri Rahul Tandon, Head (Gas), Shri Biju Gopinath, Executive Director (Pipelines), and Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Head (Aviation), along with senior officials of BPCL, were also present during the interaction.

BPCL remains committed to strengthening pipeline infrastructure, expanding the nationwide reach of PNG and contributing to the growth of India’s natural gas sector.

At the FICCI Chemicals & Petrochemicals Awards 2026, held on 22 October in Mumbai, Kochi Refinery received the “Manufacturing Process Innovator of the Year” Award for its Flammability Control Distance (FCD) Monitoring Model for the Acrylic Acid Oxidation Process, recognising its contribution to process safety and operational reliability. Shri Tejveer Singh, Secretary, DCPC, presented the award on behalf of Smt. Anupriya Singh Patel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, alongside Shri Bimal L. Goculdas, Chairman, FICCI Chemicals Committee and MD & CEO, DMCC Specialty Chemicals Limited.

The in-house FCD Monitoring Model enables real-time monitoring and early corrective action, strengthening process safety. The award was received by Shri Mahesh C D, General Manager (PETCHEM); Shri Chozhan G, DGM (PETCHEM–Process Engineering); Shri Vijith Vinayan, SM (PETCHEM); Shri Zakir Ahmed, SM (PDPP-Maint) ; and Shri Abhishek Verma, Manager (PETCHEM).

This achievement highlights BPCL’s focus on indigenous innovation, safer industrial processes and enhanced operational reliability, supporting higher safety standards across the chemicals and petrochemicals industry.
