—“The Renewable energy challenge” is an International event meant for the engineering colleges and universities. This program is fun hands-on educational opportunity for youth to design, construct and fine-tune a Solar-Powered /Battery –Powered car. There are two main goals of this program.
1) To improve knowledge of Science, Engineering Designs and Renewable energy concept. In addition it will e
nhance the Students Self-Confidence and ability to apply Text Book methods and education to make a real, handy work-machine. Top Teachers and Students from across the country and have put-in their minds together to make one the most engaging and motivating engineering program – “A Solar Car”.
“The solar car challenge” is designed to motivate the students in science, engineering and alternative energy resources. Student learns how to design, engineer, build and race road-worthy Solar Car. Workshops, Curriculum material and online visit helps support the team. The end product of each education cycle is the ‘Solar car challenge”
Hence, the solar car challenge gives the students an opportunity to show demonstrate, desire and enjoy the end product of their efforts to the country.
2) To create necessary awareness and educate the common man about our environment, pollution, energy conservation and benefits of Solar Energy so that it could be utilized and consumed instead of other non-renewable sources of energy which can help in presenting a better Tomorrow to our upcoming generations. India and china are the fastest growing economy of the world. They are together accounted for less than 8 percent of the world’s total energy consumption in the year 2005. Their share had grown to 18 percent. Even stronger growth is projected over the next 25 years. Their combined energy consumption is more than double the rate of energy consumption of rest of the world and their share increasing to one quarter of world’s energy consumption in 2030 in the international energy outdoor 2008
Pollution is the most severe issue and a challenge for the entire world and Mother earth which is the outcome and byproduct of the fuel we use in our cars, cooking-gas and batteries for small appliances etc. and they are not only the released harmful emissions and gasses but also the material used to store the non-renewable energy. Utilizing and using Solar Energy is cost effective and economic then the oil and gasses. Although price-hike in oil and natural gasses keeps on going high. This will definitely slow the growth-rate and demand of energy the long term. No doubt Solar energy is the best , economical, pollution free, Environment Friendly, cost-effective, renewable handy, easy to conserve and new source of energy. That comes for free with no health hazards and side-effects.
