It's the completion of a year that we had involved ourselves with the novel idea of spreading biotech stories.
We tried to do the same event this year too. Unfortunately the Pandemic situation becomes an obstruction in our will. As we do not believe in virtual training when the Molecular Biology Techniques are concerned, we didn't even try to conduct any Webinar for BT STAR. Let the situation becomes normal again, we will definitely come with new ideas. We are so sorry to say, we are even unable to share our labspaces with the selected top 5 participants. Equidistantly, we promise to provide the scope to each and individual of them as soon as the threat of infection go away.
Let us recapitulate the moments again.

We, at Dr. KPC Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. are feeling ecstatic to announce that our 1st National Symposium – BT STAR ’19, which took place on 13th-14th November 2019, was a grand success.
The journey initiated a year back-when we started providing on-site training in basic techniques of molecular biology to the students of renowned colleges and universities. From these training programs, the top students were invited to participate in this National Symposium - BT-STAR ’19, held at our Jadavpur Campus.
We are delighted with the unparalleled and unconditional support provided by Dr. K.P. Chaudhuri (Chairman, The KPC Group) and Mrs. Indrani Ghosh (Vice President, The KPC Medical College & Hospital) for making this Symposium a huge success. They were felicitated by Mr. Uttam Chakraborty (Director of Finance, The KPC Group).
The inaugural session was graced by Mrs. Krishna Das (Director, Dr. KPC Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Uttam Chakraborty (Director of Finance, The KPC Group), Prof. Ashok Bhadra (Principal, KPC Medical College & Hospital) and Prof. Asok Mandal (Chief Medical Director, KPC Medical College & Hospital). They were felicitated by Dr. Dibyajnan Chakraborty (Senior Scientist, Dr. KPC Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.), for their humongous contributions to their respective fields and providing support to Dr. KPC Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. During his introductory talk, Dr. Dibyajnan Chakraborty mentioned about the initiatives taken by Dr. KPC Life Sciences to reduce plastic pollution in Biological Research.
The event was glorified by the presence of illustrious and distinguished speakers from academia and industry at par, as well as other honorable dignitaries. We were overwhelmed to have Prof. Sujoy Dasgupta (Scientist, Bose Institute), Prof. Syamal Roy (Dean, NIPER), Prof Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay (Vice Chancellor, Amity University), Prof Maitreyee Bhattacharyya (Director, IHTM), Dr. Sanjib Dey (Scientist, Thermo Scientific), Mr. Arindam Ghatak (Co-founder, Biomoneta, Bangalore) and Dr. Nirmalya Roy (Professor, Medicine-KPCMCH). As the name of the National Symposium, Story Telling on Advanced Research (STAR), the whole session was full of sharing information on new development in the field of Biotechnology, Molecular detection, Healthcare, Infection control etc.
We were also fortunate enough to have Mr. Priyam Sengupta (Founder, Bloodmates) with us. Mr. Sengupta and his team members from Bloodmates showed us the present scenario of voluntary blood donation as well as the social situation of thalassemia. The information they shared was really terrifying. If we do not take proper care to prevent thalassemia, the fitness of the population will decrease remarkably soon.
The star participants of the STAR (the symposium), definitely received some food for soul to be the imminent and budding talents in the biotech industry.
The poster session- conducted with the students selected in BT STAR ’19 was a very interactive one. The topic of poster presentation was “Plastic Biodegradation”. The feedback obtained from the students (pursuing B.Sc./B.Tech/M.Sc. degrees in these renowned colleges) was very encouraging. They felt really confident after presenting their posters in public platform, because unlike the PhD students, they are not used to such practices usually. This boosted their confidence and self-esteem by several fold. In our quest for reducing plastic usage, we had directed the participants to take a print out of their poster in paper. Also, with some DIYs, we managed to build some re-usable stands for their poster presentation, out of waste cardboard.
