At Enviro Control Private Limited, Velox Automation provided a robust PLC + SCADA-based automation system for a large-scale upgrade of a municipal drinking water treatment facility in Rander, Surat. The project involved converting an existing 50 MLD conventional plant into a 160 MLD ceramic ultrafiltration (UF) system under similar site conditions.
The challenge was not easy. The system had to significantly increase the plant's capacity while ensuring uninterrupted water supply to the city.It also required precise control of complex UF processes, continuous monitoring to maintain water quality (≤ 0.5 NTU turbidity), and seamless integration with a city-level Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) for real-time monitoring.
Velox implemented a complete automation solution using Siemens S7-1500 PLC and WinCC Professional SCADA in a TIA Portal environment.Advanced control logic was developed for the filtration cycle, backwashing, and overall plant operation.A centralized SCADA system enables real-time monitoring, control, and visualization, supported by MIS reporting for performance tracking. This system was fully integrated with the ICCC, facilitating centralized monitoring and rapid decision-making.Velox managed the entire lifecycle, including software development, system integration, and commissioning, to ensure there was no disruption during the upgrade.
As a result, this plant is now operating as a high-capacity, fully automated and intelligent water purification facility. It provides consistent water quality, ensures uninterrupted supply, and significantly improves operational efficiency and response time.Optimal use of existing infrastructure and reduction of chemical dependency also contribute to reducing environmental impact. This project establishes a strong benchmark for sustainable and scalable municipal water treatment solutions.
