What can 0.5 vigha of land really do? With the right support and a shift in approach, it can turn into something truly dependable. Through the SAFAL programme by AM/NS India, Bhagubhai Hirabhai Patel from Junagam village in Hazira was introduced to the Kitchen Garden model.

This approach taught him crop planning, efficient use of space, quality seed inputs, and gave him technical guidance to maximise every crop cycle. Today, his land yields steady output, bringing greater consistency and security to his livelihood.

Change in farming often begins with a simple shift in the approach. For Prasant Jena, a farmer from Singitali village, Paradeep in Odisha, that shift came through access to better techniques and consistent guidance.

With support from AM/NS India’s SAFAL Project, he moved from small-scale cultivation using traditional methods to adopting trellis-based farming and improved practices. What followed was expanding cultivation, diversifying crops, and improving yields.
