What is Corner Torsion Reinforcement in two way slabs?
• Reinforcement placed at slab corners
• Consists of top & bottom bars
• Provided in both directions
• Extends a distance of 0.2 × shorter span from the corner

🚨 What Happens if Corner Torsion Mesh is NOT Provided?

❌ Diagonal cracks at slab corners
❌ Uplift and separation from beams/walls
❌ Serviceability issues (cracks visible early)
❌ Reduced durability
❌ Non-compliance with IS 456:2000

Dear Developers, Architects & Engineers,
did you know that !!!!

As per IS 875 (Part 3): 2015 – Wind Loads on Buildings,

Wind does not act as a steady force on tall or slender structures.

Structure must be analysed based on Gust factor,
Gusts introduce dynamic effects, which can significantly amplify wind loads and structural response.

📌 IS 875 (Part 3): 2015 clearly specifies situations where Gust Factor Method (GFM) becomes mandatory instead of simple static wind analysis.

✅ Gust Analysis is COMPULSORY when any ONE of the following conditions is satisfied:

1️⃣ Slenderness Condition
Ratio of Height of Building to Least lateral Width of building is more than 5
➡ Tall and slender buildings are highly sensitive to wind fluctuations.

2️⃣ Dynamic Condition
Natural Frequency of Building is less than 1 Hz
➡ Low-frequency structures respond dynamically to wind gusts.

⚠️ Important Note

Gust Factor Analysis MUST be performed if any of the above conditions is not satisfied,
Simple static wind load calculation is not sufficient.

🏗️ Why it matters?
• Captures along-wind dynamic response
• Prevents underestimation of wind forces
• Ensures serviceability & occupant comfort
• Mandatory for code compliance

How We Work at SHREE CONSULTING ENGINEERS , And What Truly Sets Us Apart !

A few weeks ago, I had a moment of realization.

In my 13 years of structural engineering practice, I had never designed a pile foundation in any real project. Not because it wasn’t taught in academics but simply because the opportunity never came in my professional journey.

Then suddenly, one of our most challenging and prestigious projects demanded a complete pile foundation design with detailed drawings, checks, and compliances.

At that moment, we had only one option:
Upgrade ourselves and take full ownership.

What followed was days of deep study of IS codes, international references, research papers, design examples, soil–structure interaction concepts, detailing practices, failure studies, and more. We questioned every assumption, validated every step, and built the entire system from first principles.

Today, I can confidently say:
👉 I have mastered pile design and detailing for heavy and complex structures.
