RCW 49 ✨🌌✨
This is RCW 49 nebula, a massive stellar nursery located 13,700 light-years away in the constellation Centaurus.
⚡ Infrared View: The image was taken by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, using infrared technology to see through cosmic dust that hides stars from visible light telescopes.
⚡ Star Formation: The nebula contains over 2,200 stars, many of which are newborn, deeply embedded "proto-stars" currently forming within the dust plumes.
⚡ Color Key: In this representation, the blue spots at the center are older stars, while the green filaments represent hot gas clouds, and the red areas are cooler dust.
⚡ Hollowed Out: Intense radiation and stellar winds from the central stars have blown away cosmic dust, creating a hollow cavity visible in the image.
