🌍 E-Bicycle Rally for a Plastic-Free Future! 🚴‍♂️♻️
The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), in collaboration with Rubamin and Halol Nagar Palika, hosted an inspiring E-Bicycle Rally aimed at spreading awareness about reducing plastic usage and embracing sustainable practices! 🌱
The rally, which began at Rubamin was led by Dr. Pradeep Dave, who delivered an empowering speech on the importance of protecting our environment and minimizing plastic waste.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. R.B. Makwana from GPCB, who joined Dr. Dave in leading the rally and supporting this significant initiative.
A special mention to Halol Nagar Palika for their warm welcome and for adding a touch of beauty to the event with a floral tribute to the participants.
This initiative is a reminder that small, conscious changes in our daily habits, like reducing plastic use, can contribute to a much larger environmental impact.

A Proud Milestone on Gujarat Foundation Day!

Today marks a defining chapter in India’s sustainable, circular and smart recycling of critical metals.

Today, 1st May 2025, on the auspicious occasion of Gujarat Foundation Day,
Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra bhai Patel inaugurated Rubamin’s Lithium-ion Battery Recycling facility dedicated to the extraction of Critical Metals vital for India’s energy transition.

Hon. Chief Minister inaugurated the Industry 4.0 Smart Factory Digital Control Center capable of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based automation.

His presence not only humbled us, but also reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening India’s critical minerals supply chain.

Our Chairman Mr. Atul Dalmia and Managing Director, Mr. Anil Patel announced ₹600 crore investment towards -

1) Expansion of Vanadium extraction; and 2) Creation of Rubamin Global Capability Centre - a hub for R&D, innovation and manufacturing excellence where over hundred scientists will craft processes for production of Critical Metals, Rare Earth Elements, and Battery Materials.

National Safety Day Closing Ceremony at Rubamin
We were honored to have Mr. Pradeep Dave, Regional Head of GPCB Panchmahal, as a key speaker during the closing ceremony of National Safety Day on 11th March. His valuable insights on the importance of safety and his extensive experience truly inspired us.
Mr. Dave highlighted the strong interconnection between safety and environment and emphasized how both play a vital role in creating a sustainable and secure workplace for all. He also motivated our people to maintain good health by drawing an engaging analogy: the difference between a Six Pack and a Family Pack - the symbol of personal fitness and individual discipline, the idea that taking care of ourselves collectively, as a team, is what creates a healthier and stronger environment for everyone.

While originally meant for battlefields, its relevance extends far beyond – into industries where safety is paramount.

Rubamin conducted a full-scale mock drill on ammonia handling and emergency response, led by Dy Director Industrial Safety & Health Shri Dinesh Gamit with his expert insights, to ensure that in the face of a real emergency, every stakeholder—from first responders - ERT to plant personnel—know their role and can act swiftly to prevent harm.

By simulating real-world emergency scenarios, they help identify gaps, refine response strategies, and build coordination between various teams that differentiates containment and catastrophe.

Investing time and resources in such exercises today ensures that if a crisis ever occurs, we are not caught off guard. These practices should be encouraged across industries, reinforcing the belief that a well-prepared team is the best defense against unforeseen challenges.

Honoring the Hands That Built Our Legacy

Today, 27 February 2025, we celebrated the Founders’ Day to commemorate the vision and dedication of the individuals who laid the foundation for India’s Largest Zero-Waste Industry 4.0 Smart Recycling Facility for Critical Metals from EOL Lithium-Ion Batteries. Our CMD Mr Atul Dalmia and MD Mr Anil Patel took a stock of the developments and observed the first batch of Black Mass being processed for metal recovery.

We take a moment to honor the true architects of this achievement—the men and women whose unwavering dedication, relentless perseverance, and sheer hard work have made this vision a reality.

To the laborers who laid every brick with precision and purpose. To the architects that envisioned and sketched the details of this temple of innovation. To the contractors who orchestrated this symphony so that every detail met the highest standards. To the engineers who turned blueprints into reality, solving challenges with ingenuity and resilience. To the managers who led with foresight, balancing timelines, resources, and teams. To the Government of Gujarat who supported, encouraged and guided every step of the way.

This facility, a milestone in Indian recycling, is a story of determination and teamwork - a testament to the sweat, skill, and spirit of Team Rubamin. Today, as we celebrate, we do so not just with pride but with immense gratitude.

When we unveiled our Industry 4.0-powered zero-waste lithium-ion battery recycling facility for critical metals at conclave on sustainable waste management and FICCI’s summit on tech in recycling, many in the audience were skeptical. Could an Indian recycler truly be at the cutting edge of tech?

We realised that their disbelief is not because the technology isn’t real, but because they are exhausted from the continuous overpromising and underdelivering in the recycling ecosystem.

Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution, where data, automation, and intelligence come together to create smart, self-optimizing systems. It transforms industries by connecting machines and people to AI for driving efficiency and real-time decision-making.

Our instruments are designed to collect real-time data from over 4000 input output counts and feeding it into a central server. The Foghorn: Cutting Through the Myths of Recycling

Out in the vast, open ocean, where the mist swallows the horizon and the lighthouse’s beam is lost in the fog, a sound breaks through—deep, resonant, undeniable. The Foghorn. A guide for lost ships, a warning against unseen dangers, and—if legends are to be believed—a call that once lured a lonely beast from the depths of the sea.

Today, our industry stands in a fog of its own. Misinformation, half-truths, and outdated perceptions cloud the real potential of recycling, circularity, and sustainable material recovery. Critical metals lie untapped in waste with less understood transboundary restrictions and traditional laws of primary input based economy.

Regulations are trying hard to keep pace with innovation but not yet enforced. Winged Visitors at Rubamin: A Testament to Our Commitment to Nature

Some visitors to our factory don’t carry a visitor pass. But we welcome them with open arms—because they’ve made Rubamin their home.

Birds are nature’s environmental indicators, signaling the health of our ecosystem. Their presence reflects the harmony between industry and biodiversity. At Rubamin’s Green Recycling Complex in Halol, we take pride in fostering a habitat that supports both sustainability and wildlife.

Over the past year, the Gujarat Nature Conservation Society (GNCS) has conducted a comprehensive study on avian diversity at our site. Through 24 observation sessions spanning November 2023 to October 2024, they documented an astonishing 4,658 individual birds, representing 77 species from 49 families.

A team of 12 observer students from B.Sc. (Zoology) Faculty of Science, of
M.S. University of Baroda and Navrachana University had performed these
scientific observations under the guidance of the expert teachers from the same
University.

This study highlights how industrial spaces, when designed responsibly, can coexist with nature. Our recycling complex is not just about extracting value from waste—it’s about creating an environment where life thrives.
