Element-free Galerkin (EFG) is a pseudo meshless simulation method. In contrast to classical FEA, the simulation model can handle large deformations. By additionally incorporating re-meshing, the model can sustain even larger deformations.

In classical Finite Element Analysis ( ), the method relies on meshing, and with large deformations, the mesh can become distorted, requiring remeshing. In contrast, the Element-Free Galerkin (EFG) method does not use traditional meshing and instead uses scattered points to define shapes, making it more suitable for handling large deformations. does not natively support EFG but can be implemented through user-defined subroutines (like UEL).
