The Yellowstone Hotspot has been an excellent natural laboratory that has given the scientific community many interesting thermophilic anaerobes to play with over the decades. As with any geothermal system, the features can change quickly when the underground plumbing of an active caldera changes. Recently, some interesting changes in the features at Yellowstone have been reported; new geothermal features popping up, dormant geysers springing (pun intended?) to life, and some geothermal springs heating up while other change their activity.
