Precision at every stage of the lift.
Lifting 1,250 kg to a height of 22 metres with a working radius of 20 metres requires far more than just power: it requires advanced technology that gives operators precise and intuitive control throughout every stage of the operation.

The Fassi F1750R.2-HXP TECHNO crane combines exceptional performance with advanced control systems, whilst the expertise of Transgruas, Fassi’s local dealer in Spain, ensures a solution tailored to the customer’s needs.
Because when every centimetre matters, precision, control and expertise make all the difference.

It’s easy to admire the finished loader crane… 🏗️

But there’s a huge amount happening behind the scenes to create these incredible pieces of engineering.

On Sunday, we released a new video where Fassi gave us exclusive access to follow the complete production journey – from raw steel to the finished loader crane.

If you’d like to see the full process in detail, head over to our YouTube channel and watch the full documentary.

If not, here’s a brief snapshot of each stage.

⚠️ Please note: the sequence shown in this video is for visual storytelling and is not the actual production order. 😅

The real manufacturing process is:
➡️ Steel preparation (including sandblasting)
➡️ Laser cutting
➡️ Bending
➡️ Welding
➡️ Column & boom assembly
➡️ Final assembly
➡️ Testing
➡️ Distribution centre before delivery to the customer

Considering the complexity of the production process, the extensive quality testing, and the scale of the logistics taking place across five different facilities, you might assume that’s where the story of the crane begins.

But actually, it starts much earlier – in the Quality Department.

Let’s start with a material test: the Impact Test. 👊

In simple terms, it measures the toughness of a material and its resistance to sudden, high-strain loads.

By striking a notched test sample with a swinging pendulum, the test measures the amount of energy absorbed during fracture. Tougher materials absorb more energy and deform before breaking, while brittle materials snap with very little energy absorption.

The next mechanical test is the Tensile Test. 🧪

Here, a sample is pulled until it fractures. In real-world terms, this allows engineers to understand exactly how much load a material can withstand. It determines the material’s strength, helping establish safe working limits and ensuring the structure performs reliably before failure.

Then there is the Climate Chamber Test. 🪸

Here, the electrical components used in Fassi cranes are artificially exposed to extreme temperatures and humidity levels. This verifies product durability, shelf life, and resistance to harsh environmental conditions. The chamber can simulate anything from hot desert climates to cold, damp environments.

Another test that simulates environmental conditions is the Salt Spray Test Chamber. 💦

Here, the corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings is assessed by atomising a 5% saline solution into a dense, temperature-controlled fog. For example, the marine crane components you can see here have been exposed to this test for an astonishing 2,000 hours.

The final group consists of Metallurgical Tests. 🔬

Where the physical, chemical, and structural properties of the metal are analysed to verify the composition and quality of the steel. This helps prevent component failures and also allows engineers to investigate the root cause if a part does fail.

What if you didn’t have to weld a large loader crane to the chassis?

When developing the installation of this Fassi F1250R.2.8-HXP Techno onto the Volvo Aero Chassis, the structure was calculated, stress tested and engineered to prove that a bolted solution could do the job.

And this became the first Fassi F1250R.2.8-HXP Techno installed this way.

Why does it matter?

Skilled welders are becoming increasingly difficult to find, while demand for larger loader crane applications continues to grow.

A properly engineered bolted solution can make the installation process more time-efficient and reduce the reliance on specialist welding during the build.

It’s not about replacing engineering with shortcuts.

It’s about using engineering to find a different way.

Would you trust a crane of this size on a bolted installation?
