Earlier this year, Aviano Fire & Emergency Services was named the 2025 Department of the Air Force Best Medium Fire Department. This week, our senior leadership team had the honor of formally accepting the award from the Air Force Fire Chief and Career Field Manager during the Annual Senior Fire Officer Summit in Reno, Nevada.

This recognition belongs to every member of our department. Thank you to our incredible team for your professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence every day. We couldn't be more proud.

This class was especially memorable, as our very own CMSgt Rollins had the privilege of serving as the Class 26E Senior Enlisted Advisor, mentoring the next generation of Air Force leaders.

Recently, we had the honor of celebrating the retirement of Mr. Simone Di Presa after an incredible 35 years of dedicated service with Aviano Fire Department.

Throughout his career, Simone exemplified professionalism, commitment, and unwavering courage. His contributions have played a vital role in the strength, growth, and long-term success of our department, leaving a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the community he served.

Simone’s legacy is one of integrity, leadership, and selfless service. While his presence at the station will be deeply missed, his influence will continue to guide and inspire future generations of firefighters.

Today we’re proud to recognize one of our own firefighters, Mr. Fabrizio La Marca, for his incredible commitment to our community.

This past October, Fabrizio played a key role in organizing and supporting Aviano’s “Corre in Rosa” campaign in partnership with the regional oncology hospital. With more than 6,000 participants dressed in pink, the 5K and 10K walk/run once again showed the strength of our community coming together to support cancer research.

Fabrizio has dedicated himself to this cause year after year—and today, that dedication has come full circle. Thanks to the funds raised from October’s event, the hospital was able to purchase specialized medical equipment used for ar**la micropigmentation. This procedure helps restore a natural appearance for women who have undergone mastectomies, playing an important role in rebuilding confidence, dignity, and a sense of wholeness during recovery.

This is more than fundraising—this is real, lasting impact on people’s lives.

Fabrizio, thank you for your passion, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to serving others. You are truly a world-class community servant, and we are proud to stand beside you

Today we say farewell to MSgt Steven Soto, whose impact on the Aviano Fire Department over the past three years cannot be overstated. MSgt Soto has been instrumental to the success we’ve achieved, leading with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to developing our Airmen.

To many, he is affectionately known as the “Mayor of Aviano” or the “Assistant Chief of Everything,” always willing to step in, solve a problem, and make things happen for the good of the team. His leadership and dedication to the mission will be truly missed, and the standard he set will continue to guide us moving forward.

While we’re sad to see him go, we’re excited for him and his family as they head to their next assignment at Yokota.

🎅🔥🚒 Spreading Holiday Cheer with Sparky & Santa! 🚒🔥🎅

Today, the Aviano Fire Department had the pleasure of heading out with Sparky and Santa to Roveredo, where we visited three Asilos. We handed out goodies, shared smiles and laughter, and spent time visiting with the children and staff to help spread some holiday joy. ❤️

We are also proud to share that Mr. Lucio Fedrigo received an appreciation award from the Mayor of Roveredo, recognizing his continued support and dedication. 👏🏅

Thank you to the Asilos in Roveredo for the warm welcome, and happy holidays from all of us at the Aviano Fire Department! 🎄✨
