Strengthening international cooperation for sustainable industrial development in Uzbekistan
An important step towards new international cooperation opportunities between Gamma Meccanica and Uzbekistan.
Gamma Meccanica S.p.A. recently took part in the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF 2026), one of the leading economic events in Central Asia, bringing together institutions, investors and industrial partners from all over the world. Delegations from 102 countries attended the forum from June 16 to 18, alongside government officials, development banks, sovereign wealth funds and multinational corporations representing approximately €36.5 trillion in combined assets.
During three intense days of conferences, meetings and interviews, the Gamma Meccanica delegation, consisting of CEO Andrea Burini, Eng. Among the highlights of the visit were the meetings with H.E. Mr. Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Zoir Mirzayev, Governor of the Tashkent Region, and Mr. Shavkatjon Abdurazzoqov, Governor of the Namangan Region. Discussions focused on future industrial opportunities and areas of mutual interest aimed at supporting sustainable growth, innovation and technological development.
Particular attention was dedicated to the first project currently under implementation in the Chust district of the Namangan Region, involving the production of rock wool, sandwich panels and substrates for hydroponics. A second project is planned in the Bekabad district of the Tashkent Region. Both initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to the development of advanced and sustainable industrial infrastructure and are planned to be implemented during the period 2026–2030.
In parallel, discussions also covered the introduction of technologies for post-industrial and post-consumer plastic recycling, resource efficiency and circular economy solutions, reinforcing the shared commitment towards environmentally responsible industrial development.
A key milestone of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Gamma Meccanica S.p.A. and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The agreement was signed by Mr. Alisher Shukurov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mr. Andrea Burini, CEO of Gamma Meccanica S.p.A.
The Memorandum establishes a framework for cooperation in plastic recycling technologies, insulation materials production, circular economy solutions and sustainable industrial development. It also promotes technology transfer, resource efficiency and the implementation of environmentally responsible industrial practices, opening the way to future joint initiatives and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy.
Gamma Meccanica is proud to contribute its experience and know-how to projects aimed at fostering innovation, sustainability and industrial growth, supporting Uzbekistan's vision for a more resource-efficient and environmentally responsible future.
The visit confirmed the strategic importance of Uzbekistan as a rapidly developing market and further strengthened Gamma Meccanica's commitment to supporting sustainable industrial growth in the region.
