Over the past two decades, the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has undergone radical transformations due to the spread of new technologies and methodol

ogies. With the advent of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Robotics, voice interfaces, and wearable devices, it is necessary to explore how these innovations influence and shape interactions between users and digital systems. The conference aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and developers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of these new technologies and methodologies in the contemporary context.

Keynote: Working at the interface between HCI and Health: tales of challenges and triumphs

Novel technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, telemedicine, robotics, wearables and more, offer huge promises in healthcare – for use by clinicians, patients or both together. Yet many design concepts that look great on paper or in localised settings fail to scale up into impactful clinical practice. In this talk, Ann Blandford will reflect on experiences of working with interdisciplinary teams on various health technology projects.

Speaker: Ann Blandford is Professor of Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) at University College London. She is also a member of the ACM CHI Academy and recipient of an IFIP TC13 Pioneer award.

Keynote: "Social Extended Reality: Achieving Presence and Togetherness through Immersive Realistic Experiences"

With Social Extended Reality (XR) emerging as a new medium, where users can remotely experience immersive content with others, the vision of a true feeling of ‘being there together’ has become a realistic goal. This keynote will provide an overview about the challenges to achieve such a goal, based on results from practical case studies like the Amplify and the TRANSMIXR projects. We will discuss about different technologies, like point clouds, that can be used as the format for representing highly-realistic digital humans, and about metrics and protocols for quantifying the quality of experience.

Speaker: Pablo Cesar leads the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) group at CWI and is Professor of Human-Centered Multimedia Systems in the Department of Intelligent Systems (INSY) at TU Delft.

Keynote: "The Role of Digital in the New European Bauhaus"

The keynote will explore the digital dimension of the Bauhaus of the Seas. This New European Bauhaus Lighthouse project envisions sustainable, inclusive, and innovative interactions with coastal and maritime ecosystems. In this keynote, I will highlight how digital tools and interventions are instrumental in advancing the project’s strategic goals – bringing together aesthetics, sustainability, and inclusivity to transform human relationships with the sea. Key examples and case studies will illustrate the role of digital technologies in enabling participatory design, fostering community engagement, and promoting new models for ecological restoration.

Speaker: Nuno Jardim Nunes is a Full professor at Tecnico – University of Lisbon and the President and founder of the Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI), Portugal’s leading HCI and design research institute.

Conversational interfaces, powered by advances in natural language processing and machine learning, represent a transformative approach to HCI. These systems enable a more human-like interaction model that lowers the cognitive barrier for users to access, manipulate, and reason about large volumes of data. They are particularly valuable in high-stakes, dynamic domains—such as healthcare, education, emergency response, and sports—where users must quickly interpret insights and make informed decisions in real time.
This workshop aims to foster dialogue and exchange among researchers, developers, and practitioners working on novel technologies and methodologies in human-computer interaction. The primary objective is to explore the role of conversational systems and intelligent interfaces in facilitating data access, enhancing decision support, and promoting trust, transparency, and usability in AI-driven environments.

The LINFA: Linguistic & Informatic insights on AI for gender, accessibility, and inclusivity workshop aims to translate our research foundation into concrete, collaborative action by convening scholars and practitioners from different disciplines to advance AI-driven strategies for equitable, gender-inclusive, and accessible institutional communication. We invite submissions that critically examine existing language technologies, evaluate or propose novel multilingual resources, explore the sociolinguistic dimensions of equitable, gender-sensitive, and accessible discourse across different languages, and showcase prototype applications or empirical assessments of user impact in real-world contexts.
