We are pleased to have had the opportunity to bring the priorities of the precision irrigation sector into the dialogue with European institutions.
On September 29 in Brussels, Irritec took part in the roundtable “Irrigation for a Water Resilient Europe,” organized by the European Irrigation Association as part of Irrigation Days 2026, focusing on the transition from European strategies to implementation.
Joining our colleague Giusy Inferrera, Vice Leader of the EIA Sustainability Working Group, were Moshi Berenstein and Bruno Molle, EIA President and Executive Advisor, respectively, and Julien Lecollinet of the Société du Canal de Provence, representing Eau Agriculture et Territoires. The discussion also brought together Pernille Weiss-Ehler, Lukas Repa and Gaëlle Marion from the European Commission, Carmen Crespo Díaz and André Franqueira Rodrigues from the European Parliament, Josep Oriol Bellot Miana from the European Investment Bank, and Sara Johansson from the European Environmental Bureau.
During the discussion, we emphasized that the technologies are already available: wider adoption across agriculture, urban landscapes and smart cities requires infrastructure, expertise, training, digitalization and careful water management.
Shared indicators, adaptable to local conditions, are also needed to compare outcomes, alongside certification schemes that recognize the value of investments made by end users. Verifiable results build confidence and encourage investment and large-scale adoption.
Every stakeholder has a vital role to play in shaping a European regulatory framework that supports water resilience objectives. Irritec will continue to contribute to this effort alongside the precision irrigation sector.
Thank you to everyone involved for their work, attention and the constructive discussion.
