Education is the key to scaling green hydrogen! 👇 And all the better if you do it together with strong partners to further advance clean hydrogen production:

Recently, we hosted several visitors at the Enapter Campus in Saerbeck.

Team members from our long-standing partner H2 Core Systems GmbH traveled from northern Germany, while some of our Italian Enapter colleagues also joined us from Pisa.

Together, we dedicated several days to our Flex 120 electrolyser.

With a capacity of up to 50kg of H2 per 24h, this multi-core system enables the streamlined launch of green hydrogen in pilots ranging from industrial process heat to refuelling.

The comprehensive sessions included hands-on training, covering everything from software control, automation and H2 safety to Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning.

And, of course, a key milestone was reached:

The production of local green hydrogen during the workshop.

These practical insights gained will soon be applied by the teams in real-world hydrogen projects.

Stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks.

From an abandoned chemical plant to a multi-megawatt clean energy hub: This project is set to revitalise Italy’s Ancona province with green energy👇

The Falconara Hydrogen Project by Renco SpA and the Avizoo Group is taking shape.

Together, they have formed Opificio Idrogeno Marche to transform the former plant into a renewable energy hub.

The €70 million project will initially focus on building a green hydrogen production facility.

This first phase is supported by funding from the PNRR, Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The initiative aims at turning abandoned industrial areas into ‘Hydrogen Valleys’.

▶️ Enapter will supply four Nexus electrolysers, delivering a total capacity of 4 MW. Hydrogen production will take place in a restored pavilion of the former Montedison plant, with further renovations planned for the remaining structures.

The second phase includes the construction of a 30 MW agrivoltaics plant to feed energy into the grid.

Powered by a dedicated 7.8 MWp photovoltaic system, Enapter’s containerised multi-core electrolysers will produce green hydrogen, primarily for clean mobility.

“Upon restoration, parts of the former plant will promote agriculture in the Marche region. The old Montedison plant, once associated with chemical production and significant environmental impacts, will become a hub for green energy production and local agricultural advancement,” stated Giovanni Gasparini, President of Renco SpA.

The project aims to bring significant contribution to Central Finland’s hydrogen economy – with our Electrolysers playing a central role👇

Central Finland, rich in biogenic CO2, currently lacks a clear hydrogen economy strategy.

"Central Finland has essential elements for a successful hydrogen economy, making hydrogen vital for the clean energy transition," says Janne Kärki, Research Team Leader at VTT.

He notes: “A regional H2 infrastructure can attract research actors and startups, foster technological advancement, and create business opportunities throughout the hydrogen value chain.”

HyPER, a collaboration between VTT (a leading European research institute with over 2,300 employees) and the University of Jyväskylä, aims to position the region as a hub for clean hydrogen innovations.

In a first step, this research project utilises two liquid-cooled Enapter electrolysers.

The focus on AEM electrolysis is driven by its:

• Flexibility with fluctuating renewables
• Pressurised operation up to 35 bar
• Iridium-free, PFAS-independent technology

The project explores:

• Hydrogen safety
• Digital and automated operations
• Electrolysis waste heat recovery
• Business opportunities
• Local stakeholder engagement

Based on this initial research with our AEM EL 4 electrolysers, the project will evaluate the feasibility of these potential future business cases:

1. A small-scale H2 refuelling station: Jyväskylä is a logistical knot for South-North and East-West traffic
2. A large-scale P2X project utilising the biogenic CO2 from the region’s CHP plants

This is another great example of how to pilot an H2 project with the potential and ambition to scale up in a next step.

Nium aims to decarbonise one of our planet's most polluting chemical industrial processes.
👇Here’s how our Electrolysers contribute to their impact:

Very recently, our UK partner Creo International successfully commissioned an AEM Electrolyser system for Nium.

From food to fuel, energy to shipping – the London-based company is on a mission to eliminate emissions at scale while disrupting and decentralising the dirty $75 billion ammonia market.

“We have developed an incredibly energy-efficient chemical reactor that synthesises ammonia at a fraction of the cost and pollution of traditional electrochemical and Haber-Bosch systems”, says Dr Yubiao Niu, Co-founder and CSO at Nium.

Their nanotechnology can adapt seamlessly to any hydrogen feedstock, and its low-pressure and low-temperature operation results in a low energy requirement that copes with power supply fluctuations, perfectly suited for renewable energy sources.

That’s why our modular AEM Electrolysers are a perfect match for Nium’s flexible and decentralised solution.

The current test set-up includes 5 of our compact AEM EL 4 electrolysers, as well as an Enapter dryer and water tank.

From initial engagement to final setup, the entire process took our partner Creo less than two months – a testament to their team's agility and dedication.

We’re proud to contribute to this clean innovation – and ready to scale up with Nium as their technology grows.

This is the world’s first grid-supportive solar hydrogen home – and it’s ready to power through winter❄️⬇️

Today, most buildings with PV systems and batteries have a major challenge.

Too much electricity in summer and too little in winter.

This places an increasing burden on distribution grids.

And it requires fossil reserve power plants.

This is where the steps in.

Its goal:

• Providing both thermal & electrical energy self-sufficiency
• While being able to contribute to the grid
• Supplying energy very second of the year

At its core is , a long-term energy storage system by our partner HPS Home Power Solutions that draws on Enapter’s Electrolyser tech.

A good year has passed now since a family moved into the building near Berlin.

▶️Time to take stock as the dark season has already begun:

Picea has converted excess summer solar power into green hydrogen:

With 3,000 kWh of H2 fully stored, the FlexEhome is ready for winter’s dark months.

It even took advantage of sunny October days to top up the H2 supply.

Hydrogen, being a gas, contracts as temperatures drop.

This means storage pressure decreases with colder weather, even at full capacity.

So, in October – and even one day in November – picea produced extra H2 to fill the newly available space.

Combined with a heat pump and fuel cell waste heat, this system maximises energy use for the family through the cold season.

Here’s how our updated MW-sized Nexus electrolyser ensures maximised green hydrogen production from intermittent renewables⤵️

Based on learnings from the successful deployment of pre-series systems, we further improved our modular 0.5 MW and 1 MW electrolyser systems.

Here’s the AEM Nexus 1000 at a glance:

• Power consumption: 53 kWh/kg H2
• Production rate: 210 Nm³/h | 453 kg/24h
• Operational flexibility: 3-100%
• Hydrogen purity: 99.999% with optional dryer
• Outlet pressure: up to 35 barg

Today, we’re excited to share the latest developments in these systems.

Let’s dive deeper into the details:

The updated AEM Nexus electrolyser container stands out with a 25% reduced footprint of 40 ft, which makes it easier to transport and quicker to set up.

Further developments in the design of the system also make commissioning and maintenance easier.

The proven modular and scalable design of the AEM Nexus remains in the updated series, offering the same exceptional flexibility for operating with fluctuating renewable energies.

This megawatt electrolyser contains 420 AEM Stacks, which are organised in strings holding 10 modules each and assembled in a total of four sets.

The individual strings can be ramped up or down independently of each other, allowing the system to react flexibly to fluctuating power loads.

With operational flexibility of 3-100%, the AEM Nexus enables optimum utilisation of renewable energy with maximum efficiency and achieves a production capacity of around 450 kg of hydrogen per 24 hours.

Another advantage of the system is its high reliability.

Thanks to the AEM Nexus’s modular architecture, bottlenecks are minimised and single points of failure are eliminated.

The system also remains operational during maintenance work as the set of strings undergoing maintenance can be switched off separately while the remaining three sets continue to produce green hydrogen.

This minimises downtime and significantly reduces maintenance costs, maximises the availability of the system and ensures efficient hydrogen production.

With its flexible and robust design, easy handling and outstanding efficiency, the AEM Nexus is the ideal solution for companies that want to optimise their green hydrogen production and get the most out of their renewable energies.
