The panel - together with Resilient Water Accelerator, QStone Capital, Fintech Frontiers, and Northumbria University - will challenge three assumptions that have guided investment decisions in industrial water treatment and reuse in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Kenya for years, drawing on direct experience from SMEP pilot projects, including Panta Rei’s project with Fakir Knitwears in Bangladesh:

1️⃣ The business rationale for wastewater treatment and reuse is clear.
2️⃣ Buyer demand and compliance requirements drive investment.
3️⃣ Access to finance is the key challenge.

The central thesis of the session: 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 (𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁) 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲, but above all an investment challenge. Translating technical knowledge into sound financial decisions is the key to accelerating adoption at scale.

On June 15th, we had the pleasure of attending an exclusive dinner organized by Acimit - the Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers - as part of the “Incoming Mission of Pakistani Textile Operators”.

The evening offered a valuable opportunity to 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆. We exchanged views on the current challenges and opportunities facing the market, while reaffirming the crucial role of innovation, sustainability and strong collaboration between Italian technology suppliers and international textile producers.
