🌱 P2GreeN Final Conference in Brussels

On 7 October, took part in the Final Conference in Brussels, a great opportunity to look back at the project's achievements, share results from across the consortium, and reflect on how nutrient recovery from human waste and water reuse can contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices.

We also presented our poster on the Feasibility Studies developed within P2GreeN, exploring the technical and economic potential of the proposed solutions across different contexts.

And finally, we got to taste the mangoes grown using for irrigation! 🥭

A big thank you to the entire P2GreeN consortium and everyone who contributed to this journey. It has been a pleasure to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and work together towards a more sustainable and circular future! 🌍

EQUATERRA kick-off: Healing the Land, Rebuilding the Future

Today we are bringing together the full EQUATERRA consortium for our kick-off meeting — 14 partners from 7 countries, combining European scientific and technological expertise with strong Ukrainian leadership and on-the-ground knowledge.

Over the next 48 months, EQUATERRA will develop, demonstrate and validate a replicable blueprint for the green reconstruction of conflict-affected areas. Our focus is Ukraine, where contaminated soil and water, together with vast amounts of construction and demolition waste, are major barriers to recovery.

🔎 EQUATERRA in a nutshell:
• 3 Systemic Innovation Pilots in Ukraine: Soil, Water and Construction
• ≥31 bio-based and nature-based solutions developed and lab-validated
• ≥18 solutions deployed and validated in real environments
• A mobile AI-powered system for sorting conflict-derived construction waste
• An AI-enhanced digital platform and Decision Support System for mapping degradation and planning restoration
• >200 stakeholders engaged and >60 multipliers trained for green reconstruction
• A Green Reconstruction Guide and replication roadmap for Ukraine and other conflict-affected regions

During the kick-off, partners are aligning on who does what, when and how — from co-creation and stakeholder engagement, to remediation technologies, circular construction materials, digital tools, pilots, policy recommendations, exploitation and long-term impact.

At the heart of EQUATERRA is a simple idea: the environmental liabilities of war can become assets for a safe, circular and resilient recovery. By combining community-led social innovation with advanced bio-based and technological solutions, we aim to help local communities co-restore land, water and livelihoods — and build back greener.

We are excited to begin this journey together.
