Cresco, we’re proud inventors and structural engineers behind the RibRaft X-Pod™—New Zealand’s innovative, sustainable concrete foundation solution. These recycled plastic pods replace traditional polystyrene void formers, creating a strong, ribbed raft slab (typically 300mm thick with 100mm ribs at 750mm or 1500mm centres) that’s resilient, cost-effective, and better performing on expansive clays, TC2 liquefaction-prone sites, and good ground.
Key perks of the X-Pod system:
• Uses recycled plastic for a greener build (less waste, no polystyrene)
• Faster installation with clip-together pods and minimal site mess
• Superior structural performance and thermal properties similar to (or slightly better than) older waffle systems
• Free cloud-based design software for engineers to spec it quickly
We’re seeing more projects like this across NZ, from homes to light commercial and even retirement villages. Quick, resilient foundations that stand up to our soils and environment.
