MICAD in the July issue of BARCHE Magazine.

The Idea Factory column dedicates an in-depth feature to the studio and its growth into a firm able to bring a yacht to life in its entirety.

The article, written by Sacha Giannini, explores hydrodynamics, fast hulls and the logic of Life-Cycle Assessment, the approach that guides every project: a boat designed to last, to withstand time and to stay fully inspectable in every part.

This is where a project often begins: a sketch. Not a finished image, but a way ofthinking out loud. Where does the sun lounge go? How do you move from the bar to the water? Which surfaces are decorative, which are structural?

On a single drawing, layout, ergonomics and atmosphere are negotiated long before any software is opened.

It is one of the most underrated phases of naval design and one of the most decisive. Get this right, and everything that follows has a clear direction.

We continue our journey behind the scenes at MICAD.

Today we meet Andrea Maglie, who joined the team in 2019 and combines naval engineering, yacht design and a strong focus on sustainability throughout the entire lifecycle of a vessel.

For Andrea, designing means looking beyond the finished object: considering how a yacht is built, how it will be maintained, and what value its materials may still have in the future.

ONDIA 36’’ combines an elegantly sporty profile with an onboard experience designed around the owner.

One of its most distinctive features is the innovative aft seat, which moves down to water level and creates a privileged point of view: closer to the sea and difficult to find on other boats in its class.

Highly refined interiors, different colour and finish combinations and extensive
customisation possibilities allow each owner to shape the yacht around their preferences.

Available in Sport-Top, T-Top and Open versions, ONDIA 36’’ preserves the same distinctive identity across three different ways of experiencing life on board.

The details that make a boat feel considered are rarely visible in the finished product. You notice the result, not the decision behind it. A lighting strip that integrates cleanly into a timber surface. A fitting that sits flush with the deck. A material transition that holds its line under thermal expansion. These outcomes require as much thought at the design stage as the hull itself.
