Thanks to the high level of know-how acquired over the years, CBS is now a benchmark company on the market of composite materials made of carbon fibre. Production includes all those processes behind the creation of advanced composite components and sandwich panels. The strong presence of CBS in all areas where top-quality standards, performance and organization are required, is a clear indication
of the company’s skills and expertise. In its two plants it employs the most advanced production technologies with a plant and machine inventory enabling to look after all the stages of the production process, from component design through to Numerical Control and Quality Control operations. Production flexibility is such as to satisfy all specific needs and special requirements in the field of high-tech manufacturing, starting with model development, the prototyping of “one-of-a-kind” items right through to large-volume production. PRODUCTION SECTORS:
AERONAUTICS
Our firm stakes a lot on the quality and compliance of our products, and over the years we have obtained the various certifications, from the old 9002 to ISO 9001 and finally EN 9100 in early 2011. During the production process we adhere to all the standards required by law and by our clients, as is amply illustrated by our complete product traceability, an aspect of which the firm takes great care. We mainly produce solid laminates and structural sandwich panels in advanced composites (autoclave), and we perform structural adhesions and priming of constructed parts. For all these processes we have been certified for several years by both Agusta Westland and Alenia Aermacchi. We have also been collaborating for some years in the production of sandwich panels for space satellites. AUTOMOTIVE
For the automotive sector we produce cosmetic and structural parts, offering extreme flexibility and responsiveness in our production schedules. Furthermore, thanks to the use of top-quality raw and composite materials, we can also offer greater durability, lightness and sturdiness. Even where not specifically requested, we apply all the stringent quality requirements of aeronautical production to our automotive sector, from serialisation of parts to the complete traceability of the production cycle and the materials used. Production is divided into three macro areas:
-interiors and dashboards
-bodywork
-chassis
Most parts are designed in collaboration with our clients, so as to optimise the process in terms of aesthetics, costs and productivity. Almost all the pieces are considered aesthetic, with an extremely high quality of paintwork both for exposed carbon fibre and for coloured bodywork. Activities can be broken down into:
-construction of unique vehicles and/or prototypes
-construction of optional parts for mass-produced vehicles
NAUTICAL
The nautical sector was one of the first to make use of composites. Despite this, advanced composites still remain very much the domain of a niche market, where the impact of the higher costs is abundantly outweighed by the characteristics of the materials used. The main applications are still in the world of high and top level regattas and luxury vessels, where the quest for lightness and aesthetics is at its most intense. For years CBS has been producing components for sailing boat mechanisms, working with one of the world leaders in this sector. In addition to representing the ultimate in technology on the international scene, these products are made mainly in exposed carbon fibre, to satisfy the aesthetic demands of a clientele with a sharp and constant eye for the details. RACE
Ever since its launch, CBS has always been tied to the racing world. Indeed, for over 20 years it has worked with the Ferrari Formula1 team producing equipment and parts in advanced composites. The watchwords in this sector have always been the same: precision in both work and delivery times, and absolute confidentiality both in documentation and in the creation of parts, if necessary carried out in restricted areas accessible to specific, authorised staff members only. Over the years we succeeded in expanding our F1 client portfolio, working first with Minardi and subsequently with Toro Rosso. More recently we have also entered the motorbike racing world, with Ducati Corse in the MotoGP championships. And last but certainly not least, we have always produced parts for the Ferrari 'road' cars taking part in the various GT and mono-brand championships.
