Mi sono appassionato alla fotografia da ragazzino. Attraverso quella piccola apertura mi sono da subito reso conto che le cose si mostravano a me, per un attimo, per il tempo dello scatto, in maniera singolare e da questo punto di vista assoluta. Attraverso il mirino il soggetto ed il fotografo stabiliscono una relazione unica, istantanea e memorabile. Questo rapporto che la fotografia ha con il tempo, tanto in termini tecnici quanto in termini di fissità del risultato finale, è per me tanto più affascinante se lo paragono alla questione del tempo in architettura, dove il tempo ha un ruolo altrettanto importante ma anche molto complesso da definire...
I got into photography as a kid. Through that small opening I immediately realized that things were showing themselves to me, for a moment, for the time of the shot, in a singular way and from this absolute point of view. Through the viewfinder the subject and the photographer establish a unique, instant and memorable relationship. This relationship that photography has with time, both in technical terms and in terms of the fixity of the final result, is all the more fascinating for me if I compare it to the question of time in architecture, where time plays an equally important role but also a very complex one.

I met you as a professor in Politecnico di Milano Faculty of Architecture when I was too young to appreciate how magic was your way of doing with us. We have meet again few years ago and it's was nice to tell you thank you to have had open my mind when I was so young. You taught me (and also to other hundreds of people I suppose) to be proud about my role in the society as an architect. And I'm missing this theaching now more then usual. See you somewhere, may be surfing a wave, like in an Australian dream, or in a skatepark that you might had designed in paradise, crossing colours and shapes as you taught us an architect should do...
Ti ho conosciuto come professore alla Facoltà di Architettura del Politecnico di Milano quando ero troppo giovane per apprezzare quanto fosse magico il tuo modo di fare con noi. Ci siamo incontrati di nuovo qualche anno fa ed è stato bello dirti grazie per avermi aperto la mente quando ero così giovane. Mi hai insegnato (e anche ad altre centinaia di persone suppongo) ad essere orgoglioso del mio ruolo nella società come architetto. E mi manca questo insegnamento ora più del solito. Ci vediamo da qualche parte, magari surfando un'onda, come in un sogno australiano, o in uno skatepark che potresti aver disegnato in paradiso, incrociando colori e forme come ci hai insegnato che dovrebbe fare un architetto...

This year I'm missing a lot that the so Milanese April month which Milano Design Week gives us every year (and that we already missed last year). This year we are coming back to the past and we're going to have the Salone del Mobile in September. As it were a joke! Let's hope this coming back to the past could give us an amazing restarting to the future. But anyway surely this stop gave to me the time to make order in my memory even finding some prototype never produced like this which looks today to me more contemporary than how much I was able to think.......
Quest'anno mi manca molto quel mese di aprile così milanese che la Milano Design Week ci regala ogni anno (e che ci mancava già lo scorso anno). Quest'anno torniamo al passato e avremo il Salone del Mobile a settembre. Come se fosse uno scherzo! Speriamo che questo ritorno al passato possa darci un fantastico riavvio verso il futuro. Ma comunque sicuramente questa sosta mi ha dato il tempo di mettere ordine nella mia memoria anche trovando qualche prototipo mai prodotto come questo che oggi mi sembra più contemporaneo di quanto potessi pensare....

Eccoli i miei compagni di chiaccherate di
Hope With Garden.

Era un anno fa, James stava per lasciare Milano e.con Michael avevamo fatto un salto al Castello per salutare Michelangelo e la sua bellissima Pietà Rondanini.
Ma oggi è oggi. E parliamo di questo a Hope With Garden. In inglese, perché ci vediamo in video con amici vecchi e nuovi che da tutto il mondo ci raccontano come va lì da loro.
