A sterile package can protect perfectly and still slow down the person opening it.

In the operating room, every movement matters. The way a package opens, the direction of the peel, the shape of the seal and the stability of the device inside the pouch can influence how smoothly the sterile field is prepared.

This is why usability starts from design:
✔️ An easy-peel opening helps the operator access the device with controlled movement and reduces the risk of accidental contamination during opening.
✔️ A Full Flat Seal can provide a stable and continuous sealing area suitable for specific packaging configurations.
✔️ A Multiline Seal can support seal strength and may help guide the opening direction in certain laminated configurations.
✔️ A Full V Seal can improve grip and provide a clearer opening direction due to its V-shaped geometry.

Think of a surgical device that has to be opened quickly, safely and with a clear presentation to the sterile field. If the seal is hard to manage or the opening direction feels unclear, the packaging becomes part of the complexity.

Anche quest’anno la ci ha regalato tre giornate di sport, divertimento e condivisione che porteremo a lungo con noi.

Come Encaplast vogliamo ringraziare di cuore tutti i colleghi e le colleghe che hanno partecipato con entusiasmo, mettendosi in gioco nelle diverse discipline e rappresentando la nostra azienda con impegno, spirito di squadra e tanta voglia di stare insieme. Siete stati fantastici! 💪⚽🏀🏐🎾

These materials can look transparent, but they don't perform the same. When it comes to rigid thermoformed packaging for medical devices, the material choice makes a significant practical difference.

✔️ PETG: excellent clarity and toughness, and very easy to thermoform.
✔️ APET: high rigidity and excellent transparency, but more sensitive during thermoforming.
✔️ Mono-PET: the sustainable choice, with high recyclability when kept as a mono-material structure, while maintaining protection.
✔️ PVC: widely used in medical packaging and easy to thermoform, but requiring specific disposal and recycling considerations.

A sterile barrier package does not have one job; it has two. It’s crucial to understand the functional distinction.

✅ Product Protection focuses inwards: preventing damage, bending or deformation of the product during storage, handling and transportation.
✅ Sterile Barrier focuses outwards: maintaining the device's sterile microenvironment and preventing the ingress of microorganisms until the point of use.
✅ The perfect design optimises both: a secure internal structure combined with a flawless external seal. We specialise in engineering this synergy.

Choosing the right packaging material is only half the battle. The critical question is: how will it respond to sterilisation?

Not all solutions are compatible. While EtO gas needs precise permeability, steam demands high temperature and pressure resistance and irradiation can alter the polymer's molecular structure.
