Three cities, Cartagena, Naples and Taranto, grouping 1.3 million people, and a shared challenge: tackling rising temperatures and mitigating their impact on urban areas.
This challenge inspired "Beat The Heat" (BTH), a project focused on enhancing citiesโ data platforms towards an interconnected ecosystem through Data Spaces, High-Value Datasets and MIMs mechanisms, in line with the DS4SSCC blueprint.
The core of the project is the BeatTheHeat Data Space, a European data space, specialised in Urban Heat Islands (UHI) and thermal comfort. The data space has been designed to integrate weather forecasts, satellite data, IoT sensors, urban maps, building and green space information, and mobility data.
Data and digital services supporting cities in implementing Green Deal investments, Low Emission Zones and urban planning measures to address the effects of high temperatures.
Led by the City of Cartagena, the project brings together Libelium Lab, Latitudo 40, Evertree, Meditech - Competence Center, City of Naples, and City of Taranto.
๐The partners gathered in Naples on 22 September at the Real Albergo dei Poveri to celebrate the project's final milestone and raise awareness of its achievements.
Data, technology and collaboration for cities that are increasingly resilient to the challenges posed by climate change.
